60 minute Lesson plan - Understanding Feelings and Emotions. This resource was used with a Primary 2 class and could easily be differentiated to suit younger or older children. The lesson plan includes video and Power Point links and is broken down into short tasks and activities. The lesson provides opportunity for partner work, independent work, role play, making and talking. WALT identify and describe different feelings and emotions. SC: • I must identify different feelings and emotions • I should describe my own feelings (in relation to a stimulus) • I should create a mood monster • I could describe why my mood monster feels the way they do (role play) Templates for Mood monsters are included to support children who find a blank page daunting.

Differentiated imaginative writing grids. These grids can be used for morning challenges, early finisher, or as part of a main lesson. Children roll dice to determine their opener, setting, character, a WOW word , connective and punctuation. After children have selected each criteria they then create a sentence using the selected criteria. Children can create many single sentences or use their initial selection to develop a paragraph or story.
