Child-speak success criteria are a must-have in any classroom. Particularly when teaching Writing, Iâve seen a HUGE improvement in both my teaching and my studentsâ learning when utilising them. The best thing has been seeing my struggling writers become empowered and motivated through using success criteria. When students know what is expected of them, the mystery of what makes a great piece of writing is uncovered. They really do take ownership of their learning as they play an active role in self-monitoring and assessing their own writng.
So letâs make learning as clear as possible for all of our students and set them up for success every Writing lesson. Are you on board?

Just what you need for your next Science experiment! On this worksheet, students will need to record the equipment and ingredients required to make salt crystals, the method they used to make them and observational drawings recorded once per week.
I created this worksheet to use with my Year 2 students during our Science unit on Rocks. My students loved this activity and especially liked how they could add food colouring to get different coloured salt crystals! Just a word of warning to ensure that all of your students create a super-saturated solution (to the point where no more salt can dissolve in the water), otherwise youâre at risk of getting some very disappointed little faces!
I also included a WALT (We Are Learning To) and Success Criteria at the top of the worksheet.
Hope you find it helpful!
