YOu know that time of term when you need something which will work their brains but not look too much like work and give you some time to mark books etc?? Well look no further. These KS3 questions will give you that! They answer the questions and use the answer to colour the correct square in the grid. IT should spell Happy Xmas but what letter has been missed out?

This quiz covers moments, the solar system, light, sound and energy resources. Thirty questions in total, six on each topic. I use it with the zip grade app which will mark it as quickly as your phone will scan it and score by pupil and by question. Great for targeted feedback. A pdf and a publisher file. You will have to add your own diagrams to the publisher file!

Display with 11 famous scientists mainly involved with Physics! From Archimedes through Galileo, Hook, Newton, and on to Einstein. Very handy when teaching displacement etc so you can refer to the scientist. These posters have their historical dates and a brief Bio. Can be used as a frieze around a classroom. The other file has some historical occurrences you can put in between the scientists to get some historical context.

Basic circuits and series and parallel introduction

This is for pupils looking at circuits around year 7. It is suitable for KS3 and ISEB common entrance. It reviews/introduces basic circuit symbols and then has different circuits to make to compare the brightness of bulbs. A great way to get the pupils making their circuits accurately. They are then asked to find out about series and parallel circuits and classify the circuits in the experiment into these two groups. After that there are a couple of questions about the advantages of parallel circuits over series circuits.

A introduction to AND and OR circuits suitable for KS3 and ISEB common entrance with the truth tables leading the pupils to understand the names of the two types of circuit. There is then a graduated differentiation task which is given on the third page of the file with walk, jog and run task based on truth tables. You can do this as an experimental activity or a thinking one!

Sunrise and sunset display

A display with will give you 9 A4 pages allowing you to put up the times of sun rise and sun set each day. With additional information about sunrise and sun set patterns through each term (with comparisons to the times in Sydney, Australia and Singapore) there is also an sheet to tell your students why the times change. Its a great feeling to get in after the weekend and see how much daylight we get that day. Also a display that a pupil can be put in charge of updating every day during the morning, or a break. There are additional sheets to mark and explain the equinoxes and the solstices. A pdf file is supplied but it should be possible to open and edit it in word. Chase the January blues away!
