To determine the necessary areas for CPD in your school, it’s important to gather a variety of evidence and sources to precisely identify CPD requirements. One approach is to ask staff to complete a CPD Survey that evaluates their level of confidence in specific areas. Staff rate their confidence in a variety of areas and the results from this will feed into your CPD plan going forward. With a wide range of questions to ask staff on topics and themes, including behaviour management, assessment, feedback and marking, SEND, subject leadership, parent and carer communication, working with others, 51ºÚÁÏ, planning, pupil voice and more, utilise this to ask your staff team questions to truly help them improve their practice.
If you haven’t already, gather information regarding staff subject knowledge and confidence to support CPD planning, using the CPD survey template. Utilise this to provide ongoing support which is aligned to your curriculum offer and develops staff members. Consider how this CPD feeds into your wider school priorities and planning by using the CPD Plan and Cycle.
The CPD offered and provided to staff is a focus of Ofsted inspections. These two templates are fully editable work documents, so you can tailor them to suit the needs of your individual school or setting and evidence the work you have done to provide high-quality and appropriate CPD for your staff team.
