This is a full1/2 lessons on Differenation from first Principle for AS Level Maths covering all that is needed for exams.
I didnt want to just tell my students to follow a method, I wanted them to learn were it comes from too.

Starter - Drawing a quadratic graph and finding the gradient of a tangent
Discussion Prompts - Students realise this inaccurate because everyone has slightly different answers
Students find the gradient of secants instead realising this is more accurate.

Worked examples of how to apply the formula method.
