I have uploaded my 2 week resources for Handa’s surprise, with the end outcome of the children writing a recount of Handa’s journey. This unit will suit all abilities of children within year 1 and 2, with lots of these resources already being differentiated. The resources include a reading text and 2 reading lessons (retrieval and sequencing), writing resources, word banks and structure strips. Supporting teaching slides are available

I have uploaded my 3 week Bog Baby unit which includes SPaG, reading and writing lessons leading towards writing instructions on how to catch a Bog Baby. Differentiation of tasks is evident. VIPERS reading sessions include prediction, inferring and retrieval, with some ‘stand alone’ reading lessons included away from the topic.

I have uploaded my ‘How To Catch A Star’ instruction writing unit which lasted for 2 and half weeks with my mixed Year 1/2 class. The jounrey includes reading lessons (Vocabulary, Retrieval ahd Sequencing Vipers), SPaG for both Yr 1 (capital letters and full stops) and Yr 2 (adverbs with a recap of adjectives and nouns). Along the way, ‘Going Deeper’ challenges aim to push greater depth children. The pack also includes an end piece of paper to support layout and presentation.

I have uploaded my resources which I have used for a 3 week ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ unit, with the end product being a rewrite of the narrative. This unit is usable in year 1 or 2 and all resources are editable as adapated for abilities. This pack includes two reading lessons and writing lessons that can be spread over 10 lessons.

Here are my Year 2 Fast Maths worksheets for Autumn 2 (we follow White Rose so content is in line with their scheme). There are 6 weeks worth of sheets her with a range of Maths questions aimed at consolidating skills as well as increasing fluency.

Use these ‘starter’ activities to get your children used to answering a variety a maths questions in an arithmetic way. The questions are mostly designed to recap past learning (taken from the White Rose timetable) as well as teach a few new aspects that come up on assessments (money). There are 12 of these activities, designed to be used once a day.

I have resourced some activities that allow year 1 to consolidate their addition, subtraction and number knowledge. They also aim at recapping shape and measurement. As the tasks go on, they focus of early arithmetic methods and general number knowledge.

They build up skills each week using the White Rose timetable (with some example SATS questions) with a range of questions including areas of Maths that have already been covered (calculations, place value, money, shape and more!). There are 5 weeks worth of daily Fast Maths sheets (2 per page).

I have uploaded my mini pirate poetry unit that is suitable for year 1 and 2. This unit is only 5 lessons (but could be spread further or tweaked to be less). The lessons include 2 reading lessons linking to the poem ‘I wish I was a pirate’ by Tony Bradman, followed by 2 writing lessons, 1 of which focuses on alliteration. Differentiation of tasks is evident for almost all, with the end visual success criterias adapted for all learners from year 1 and year 2. Success criterias are picture based throughout to help students be successful as independently as possible. The end product is a verse (or more for year 2 children) of a pirate poem using the word bank and structure given.

I have uploaded my 2 week Edgar The Dragon unit which includes SPaG, reading and writing lessons leading towards writing a character description about the famous Edgar The Dragon from the John Lewis advert. Differentiation of tasks is evident. VIPERS reading sessions include retrieval and inference. Success criterias are picture based to help student be successful independently!

To match my Handa’s Surprise resources, I have uploaded my teaching slides. These include a 2 week unit journey with reading and writing lessons. The slides follow our school format for visuals, where we share the journey and success criteria (and prior knowledge), we then have a ‘My Turn’ slide where the teacher solely model/teach the skill, ‘Our Turn’ where the children join in and help me, ‘Your Turn’ where the children practise on their own so you can conduct AFL, followed by the tasks and a review/reflect.

I have resourced some activities that allow year 1 to develop their money understanding. The activities are differentiated and colour coded: B tasks (basic skills needed in red), A tasks (advancing/applying skills in orange) and D tasks (deep understanding in green). These are planned alongside the White Rose Scheme. I have also uploaded the pre/post assessment to match as a separate document, so these work alongside the resources.

I taught these sessions to Year 1 in the Summer term, but could be delivered in Spring.
