An 8 week practical SOW on Street Dance, suitable for Primary and KS3. Includes a written 8 week scheme of work including lesson plans, AFL, differentiation and inclusion as well as 8 PowerPoint lessons. This SOW focuses on the origins of hip hop including a variety of old school hip hop movements as well as the 5 basic dance actions. Students will learn hip hop movements from the old school hip hop dictionary, they will create their own hip hop moves and create names for them! Students will explore hip hop culture whilst learning how to implement the use of levels, pathways, freeze frames and choreographic devices including unison, canon and repetition. The SOW includes recall activities, group work, scaffolded tasks, extension tasks and plenaries. The SOW builds up to a final performance with a self-assessment.

A 19 page choreography diary for A Level Dance to help students through the choreographic process and to ensure they are including all of the relevant components within their choreography. The diary includes definitions of all choreographic devices and stucturing devices as well as an aural setting section, movement components section and more. There are sections for them to draft ideas, themes and concepts. This can also be used for choreography projects and mocks and a journal / diary or revision guide.

A full 1 year overview / long term plan for a Primary Dance Curriculum for Nursery through to year 6 including units of work and objectives for each term which highlight key skills covered. A 5 week SOW on based on Capoeira. Students will learn the 5 basic dance actions as well as learning about motif’s, formations, mirroring and pathways. Students will learn Capoeira moves within create x3 motifs which they will develop into a dance phrase. The SOW includes recall activities, group work, scaffolded tasks, extension tasks and plenaries. The SOW builds up to a final performance with a peer and self-assessment. A complete scheme of work including 6 practical lessons. This SOW focuses on the foundations of Bollywood as a Dance style as well as exploring various elements of India Culture including, Hinduism, Diwali, Yoga and the origins of Bollywood. Students will learn how to use action content whilst learning a variety of Bollywood movements. They will explore how to implement and perform the choreographic device fragmentation. There are lessons that include dancing with props in the form of coloured scarves (these can be purchased on cheaply on amazon, ebay or temu if you wish to include them). This is a cross-curricular scheme of work that incorporates elements of history and religious education. It is super fun and includes peer feedback tasks, starters, plenaries, self-assessment activities, scaffolded group tasks and extension tasks. The SOW of work builds up to a performance in lesson 6 which includes self-assessment. Suitable for Primary and KS3. Any upbeat Bollywood inspired song will work well for this, there are x4 simple Bollywood movements included in these lessons. Examples of what they look like being performed can be found on Youtube if you need.

A 7 Lesson SOW based on the Olympics! Throughout the SOW students will explore synchronisation, formations, different dance styles, speed, precision of movement, motif development, dynamics and the 5 basic dance actions. The SOW includes recall activities, group work, scaffolded tasks, extension tasks and plenaries. The SOW builds up to a final performance with a self-assessment.

A 5 week SOW for KS2-3 Dance on Rock and Roll. A fun Rock and Roll unit of work where students will explore and implement a variety of choreographic devices including unison, canon and repetition. Students learn about the origins of Rock and Roll and will create a group dance focusing on performance skills and rehearsal. The SOW includes recall activities, group work, scaffolded tasks, extension tasks and plenaries. The SOW builds up to a final performance with a self-assessment.

3 practical lessons based on the tin man character from the wizard of oz. A 6 week SOW focused on the health and wellbeing of a dancer. This SOW includes lessons that explore the key elements of warming-up, cooling down, dynamic stretching, static stretching, physical skills (from GCSE Dance) and nutrition. Students will have to opportunity to create their own warm-ups, cool-downs, implement physical skills into phrases and motifs as well as develop their use of subject specific terminology.

Numeracy skills - rhythm and counting Literacy skills - key words, subject specific vocabulary. A fun series of lessons which can be adapted to KS2 or 3 Dance. Could also be adapted for Drama / Physical Theatre. (For the Dance routine I used the music from the Umpa Lumpa Dance from the new Charlie and the chocolate factory film)
