This contains a fully resourced, differentiated lesson on food insecurity in Africa. It focuses on what is meant by food insecurity, its causes and they create an awareness campaign to highlight the issue.
This contains a fully resourced, differentiated lesson on coastal erosion. The main part of the lesson involves students producing their own labelled diagrams to show the different ways in which the waves erode the coastline, then do a class quiz-quiz trade (QQT) activity on the factors that affect coastal erosion then complete a written exercise afterwards.

The main part of the lesson involves a simple matching-up exercise of key terms, a self-imagining and written task on the difference between swash and backwash, and lastly producing a set of diagrams on the differences between constructive and destructive waves.

This contains a fully resourced, differentiated lesson on the Christian Creation Story from Genesis. The main part of the lesson involves drawing a storyboard to show the key parts of the story, a pair discussion task on how Fundamentalist and Liberal Christians might view the story (leading to a card sorting task of the reasons behind the views), and finally a written reflection evaluating how they believe the story is best understood.

This contains a fully resourced, differentiated lesson on the theory of evolution. In the main part of the lessons students complete a gap-filling exercise in order to understand how the basic theory works, work in pairs to rank different arguments (religious and scientific) on the 'Layers of Inference' grid, and finally complete an extended writing task on how convincing they find the theory based on the evidence and argument provided.

This is a fully resourced, introductory lesson on how people go about making moral decisions. The main part of the lesson mostly focuses on a case study to consider the effects of our moral actions, namely that the minerals from our mobile phones can be sourced (on occasion) to war zones. It contains a written task, peer discussion task and evaluation task.

This contains a fully resourced set of activities that focus on the impact of bullying. This was used during form time, but could easily be adapted into say a Citizenship lesson as well. Learning Objectives:

This contains a fully resourced, differentiated lesson on the instruments that are used to measure the weather. In the main part of the lesson students have to work in pairs to try and work how two instruments (rain gauge, wind sock) using visual cues, compiling a fact file with how a set of instruments work to measure different elements of the weather, and a final written exercise where students have to consider the level of accuracy of these instruments.

In the main part of the lesson students complete a think-pair-share exercise to define air pressure, use one of two sources to create their own diagrams to explain the processes involved in low and high pressure systems, and colour code a table with whether each weather element is typically associated with low or high pressure systems.

The main part of the lesson contains a critical thinking exercise where students have to indicate what order they believe the images should be organised in (leading to the formation of a stump), a statement ordering task, and a small group exercise where students construct a model coastline out of plasticine showing how a stump forms.

A fully resourced lesson on meditation in Buddhism. It includes a starter where they list their life worries and how they deal with them, in the main section a task on describing the story behind Siddhartha's enlightenment and a set of meditation exercises. In the plenary they then explain why meditation is important.
This contains a fully resourced lesson which explores the characteristics of urban areas, and how they change from the urban fringe to the central business district. This uses Ipswich as an example, although it could be easily adapted to study other cities.
This contains a fully resourced, differentiated lesson on one way in which Africa’s physical environment is threatened by human activity, namely animal hunting for sport by tourists or wealthy individuals. The main part of the lesson consists of students having to use information cards placed around the room to organise the impacts of hunting (positive/negative for less able, with positive/negative alongside social/economic/environmental categories for more able), a continuum line where students position themselves according to their personal viewpoint on animal hunting in Africa, finished with students drafting a letter to the United Nations (could be amended to an entry in a School Newsletter) where they explain in extended writing form their viewpoint towards animal hunting.
