KS2 Deserts of the world. Powerpoint lesson(s) of 32 slides with key questions and short related paired activities. Pupils will need to use a world atlas or map in pairs. Included is a link to a short Youtube clip about the largest world deserts. Learning Objectives: To know and recognise the features of a desert. To understand the differences and similarities between tropical and polar deserts. To locate deserts on a map. To identify countries where deserts are located. To understand that some plants, animals and humans can survive in the desert. There is specific reference to the Sahara, Mojave, Namib, Arctic Deserts. Can be used as a discrete lesson or part of a series of lessons to dip in and out.

Pupils cut out the images and descriptions and sequence the story onto a storyboard template. There are three templates attached which support differentiation and reading levels. KS2 Geographical features : Bridges of Britain fact sheets. Includes 10 iconic ,interesting and very different types of British Bridges including Clifton Suspension, Tyne Bridge, Forth Bridge, Tees Transporter, Gateshead Millenneum Bridge, Tower Bridge, Severn Bridge, Menai Suspension, Tarr Steps Bridge and Infinity Bridge. Each fact sheet includes information on the different structure of the bridges, simple dimensions, brief historical information and interesting related facts. The layout is accessible and easy to use to extract information or make comparisons between the bridges. Useful to link to DT topic on bridges or non-fiction writing reference material.

KS1 &2 Attack or Defend Medieval Castle Activity: 12 battle statements to classify under ’attack’ or ‘defend’ on the activity board. Pupils work in small groups or pairs to discuss and categorise the statements. A fun activity to help pupils improve historical vocabulary and understanding of the methods of defence and attack strategy. Can also be used as a plenary to assess pupil knowledge following a topic on Medieval Castles.

Myth story template KS1 & 2 Myth story planning template. A resource for pupils to use to plan their own mythological writing. KS1 & 2 Label the space shuttle, label the space rocket, label the space suit (3 worksheets) Three separate worksheets to enable pupils to match the technical vocabulary to the correct part of the picture. There are seven items of equipment to label on the space shuttle and rocket worksheets and eight parts to label on the spacesuit. An interactive power-point for pupils in Years 2, 3 and 4. The power-point is structured as comprehensive, structured lesson which includes an introductory assessment activity, opportunities for paired and group work and whole class information sharing. The slides are cross curricular and cover Halloween activities in Maths, Speaking and Listening, Drama and Poetry. The slide contents include a history of Halloween, superstitions, spells and folklore. The power-point slides are designed to enable the teacher to work progressively through the topic or stop at specific place to develop a theme. The children will need paper, pencils and an atlas or map for group work.

A simple scaffold to aid pupil writing. A scaffold of a poem which can be adapted by theme to support cross curricular writing or to develop a specific aspect of English such as alliteration, similes. Can be modified to provide challenge or support with the aid of dictionaries, Thesaurus and word banks. Very useful as a starter or plenary session.

A chronological 39 slide power-point about the life of George Stephenson illustrated with simplified text and photographs. Many of the photographs have been taken from visits to George Stephenson's home area and linked museum visits. The power-point can be used to introduce a History unit in KS1 or 2 or used as a one off lesson. Includes some simple historical activities, links to useful websites and opportunity for speaking and listening.

Playtime: A series of four complete power-point lessons (52 slides) for pupils in KS1. Each lesson focuses on playtime and toys from the past including Roman, Elizabethan, Victorian times and present day. The lessons are interactive and include opportunities for the pupils to work in pairs or a small group to extract information from sources (photographs, paintings, video clips) ask questions, compare and record findings. Children will learn to play a range of playground games, small group games and role play games from each of the periods studied which they can transfer to their own playtime in school and teach their friends. Greek Myths:Theseus and the Minotaur storyboard with missing words. Theseus and the Minotaur summarised into six boxes with key words omitted for pupils to add. Text is simple and would suit LA learners. Links with topics on Myths and Legends, Ancient Greece.
