Suitable as a stand alone lesson for cover or an extension task. Students can watch the video about seasonal foods and engage in discussion prior to complete their own seasonal fruit and vegetable calendar and embedding this new knowledge into their own dish creations. It is worthwhile printing the calendars double sided and laminating so that this resource can be used again and again.

This 74 page booklet has been created to support students and teachers with WJEC Hospitality. This is for the entire Unit 1 section of the course. My students complete the majority of this throughout year 10 and then use this as a revision tool in Year 11 prior to the Winter or Summer exam series. It is fully adaptable to your own format if necessary. Includes: a contents page a first year course outline with suggested practical dishes to accompany Unit 1 a glossary page where students can add key words Teacher/student feedback pages Supporting materials and a Unit 2 booklet will be available very soon. This is a great little mini project which can also be upscaled and made into a bit of a dragons den style competition amongst students working in teams to produce the most innovative street food item. This can easily be used as simply a research and design based project or taken further where students can make and evaluate their own food product in a practical setting.

Two homework tasks plus answers based for year 7 Food Technology students. First homework is based on food safety, whilst the second is based on the Eatwell Guide. A powerpoint with both homeworks is included with the answers so that students could self or peer assess their own work.

I usually cover this over a 2-3 hour session but could be broken down over a series of lessons to get students ‘exam ready’. Students could even fill these in independently using prior knowledge, class notes for cover lessons.
