This lesson introduces learners to inflation and interest rates - economic influences is quite a large topic area to cover so it is split into two parts. We start by looking at some shocking (for students) price changes in the last few decades before looking at how inflation is calculated and the implications on businesses and concumsers.
We then go onto looking at interest rates and again, implications on consumers and businesses. Two essay exam style questions included on each topic - both with structure guidance and concise model answers to help students with peer assessments.

In this lesson, learners are introduced to explanations for forgetting with a focus on the interference theory.
We start by discussing the concept of forgetting and how it might occur before looking into retroactive and proactive interference as explanations for forgetting We look at the effect on similarity on memory interference as well as some consolidation questions. Evaluation task and follow-up discussion, video, MCQs, true or false questions, PEEL paragraph practice and we finish with a kahoot quiz and a box plenary.

We introduce learners to labour productivity, turnover, unit labour costs, employee costs as a percentage of revenue. We start with looking at the formulas for each one, with broken down examples to illustrate the concepts.
We look at a concise case study with some information on employees and productivity, using this students complete a calculation question along with group presentations on a 24 mark essay based question on labour rentention. After presentations, students can complete the 24 marker, or it could be completed for homework, structure and indicative points are provided to help with peer assesmeents.
This is followed by another case study on a construction company, who do things differently, students explore, how they keep their productivity levels up, responses to this could be done in groups and fed back to the class, we finish with a box plenary.

This double lesson introduces learners to the importance of cash for the survival of a business, inflows and outflows are discussed, students seperate inflows from outflows, then they go on to complete a cash flow forecast step by step with guidance on the powerpoint. Formulas are given to help work out net cash flow, opening and closing balance. Students then go on to consolidate this by creating a cash flow forecast for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop, some further calculation practice followed.
3 and 6 mark questions with model answers to build exam skills on the topic. A consolidation lesson where students complete a cash flow forecast with a template on the computer. They can play with the figures to see how it will affect closing balance.

This double lesson introduces learners to the variety of interventions that governments use to intervene in markets. We start by recapping indirect taxes and subsidies before looking at examples of minimum and maximum prices - students contextualise this by looking at alcohol minimum prices and tuition fee caps in the UK - a short question with a model answer on this too. We then look at pollution permits, state provision of public goods, provision of information and regulation as other ways governments can interevene in markets. This double lesson introduces learners to the world of globalisation. We start by looking at what globalisation is, with examples of the UKs trade with other countries. We look at causes of globalisation such as containerisation and others. Students research the impacts of globalisation on countries, governments, consumers, producers and the environment before filling in any gaps in knowlege on the following slides. This lesson introduces learners to employment protection law (which health and safety law comes under) and consumer law. We look at these in detail with their pros and cons. Real life examples are looked at with two engaging scenarios.
Some multiple choice questions to consolidate knowledge and engaging activities such as creating a job advert which breaks employment law (to consolidate knowledge of factors which break the law). A homework table to further consolidate knowledge and application.
Note: Emphasis should be on knowing the effects of the laws which is covered here, rather than the names of individual laws such as the health and safety at work act 1974.

In this double lesson, learners develop their understanding on eyewitness testimony with a focus on the cognitive interview
We start by looking at an example of a police interview and ask WWW and EBI with it to introduce the cognitive interview technique as opposed to the standard police interview, we go through the four stages and have a go at roleplaying the cognitive interview technique. Evaluation task and follow-up discussion, videos, MCQs, true or false questions, Essay exam style question with example paragraphs, debate task, two kahoot quizzes (on on cognitive interview and the other on the whole of the memory unit) and we finish with a box plenary.
