Hi welcome to my shop!
I'm currently Head of Humanities, but I've also been head of department at a number of other schools, not to mention head of year. So I have a lot of high quality resources to share.
I take real pride in trying to ensure my resources are well presented, clear, easy to use and of course challenging and engaging for the students. They have taken me a lot of time to make, but hopefully they will save you a lot of time.
If you have any feedback then please review me!

A highly recommended lesson that has always been rated as outstanding or excellent.

This assembly explains the back ground to pancake day and looks at why millions of people eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
-It covers the history of Shrove Tuesday
-The meaning of lent
-The purpose of fasting
-How lent is celebrated around the world (in seven different countries)
-Some fun facts about pancake day
-Why many non-religious people take part in lent
-How they can take part in lent (even if they arenât Christian)
Itâs a well resourced, presented and explained assembly. They students should not only enjoy it but also reflect on their own lives.
This is aimed at KS3/KS4 but could easily work for KS2 or even KS5.
You could also use this in tutor time.
This assembly looks at the problem of Fake News in todayâs society and the role it has played in several major world events since 2016, up to the present day (including Brexit, Trump, Wikileaks, Climate change denial etc.)
The assembly covers what fake news is, the history of fake news, where it comes from, how it spreads and why it matters.
It also features a quiz where the students will get the chance to see if they can spot the fake news stories out of ten unlikely sounding stories.
Finally the assembly links fake news to gossip and rumours and gives tips as to how to spot fake news (both online and in the classroom).
This is a fun but comprehensive assembly.
This Anti-Racism assembly or tutor time presentation is a very popular and highly effective assembly looking at the root causes of racism. It also highlights why racism is ridiculous and what we can do about it.
It highlights many of the major stories in the world today (from Brexit to Megxit to Trump to the refugee crisis) to show how they all have a racist background (You may wish to update this slide with the latest stories of the day, but that is up to you).
The assembly also looks at DNA and how we are all interconnected in ways we arenât full aware of. This include a fantastic video which explains our DNA journey.
It includes tips on how to combat racism and quotes about race (from Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King)
A thought provoking but really interesting assembly.

This is a geography SoW primarily aimed at KS3 but can be adapted to suit KS2 or KS4.
The bundle contains eight lessons, one h/w booklet, one revision lesson and one assessment lesson. All are packed full of high quality resources and challenging (but fun!) activities.
Please down load the Free lesson on the North Pole to see what the standard of the lesson is like.
A well made and well structured SoW.
This is a 10 lesson bundle aimed at KS3 students on Jack the Ripper. Each lesson is fully planned and resourced and designed to last for 60 min each.
This scheme of work contains a wide variety of activities that test historical skills while telling the fascinating story of Jack the Ripper.
The students will learn the tragic stories of the victims, guess who the Ripper might have been, learn why the detectives failed to solve the case, what may have happened to Jack and what the legacy of the Ripper murders were for the East End of London.
**The lessons cover:
**1 - Who was Jack the Ripper?
2 - Ripper Profile
3 - Who were the victims?
4 - Who was Jack the Ripper?
5 - Why couldnâ t they catch Jack the Ripper? (part 1)
6 - Why couldnât they catch Jack the Ripper? (part 2 - Sources)
7 - What happened to Jack the Ripper?
8 - Did Jack actually improve London?
9 - Jack the Ripper Revision (Assessment Prep)
10 - Jack the Ripper Assessment
This is an inspirational assembly that looks at the issue of what can we do to make a difference.
Some terrific video clips and some really good stories.
This can be done at any time of year, but it will almost certainly result in you getting a standing ovation!
One of my best assemblies. Highly recommended.
**This is a fantastic assembly designed to deal with the issue of Gossip or rumours in a school context. **
It was observed by Ofsted and they said it was Outstanding
This assembly looks at:
-The definition of gossip
-Where the term comes from
-Why people gossip
-What surveys show about gossip in the UK today
-What the impact of gossip is
-How it can be avoided
-6 tips to reduced gossip
The assembly can be a straight forward teacher presentation or you can include some audience participation (Q&As, a demonstration of gossip, a quick survey)
There are notes under every slide to help the presenter. The assembly should take 15 to 20 minutes. If you are short on time you could skip the video and the quotes.
I have also included a follow up activity for form tutors following the assembly to consolidate the key message.
All images in this presentation are free to use under a Creative Commons Licence.
This lesson introduces the students to Scientology and asks the question is it a real religion or is it a cult?
It is designed to be an introduction to the faith. It looks at the history, beliefs, practices and controversies surrounding Scientology.
This lesson was been commended in a recent Ofsted report and has been praised by staff and students alike for being interesting and challenging.
It is a really good start to the âAlternative Religionsâ unit and gets the students to reflect on their own faith and consider what a religion really is.
This is a fantastic assembly that looks at how we spend our time.
This can be used at any time but may be most effective at the start or at the end of the year when the students have an opportunity to reflect on their own use of time.
It covers:
-Where units of time came from
-Why the calendar doesnât make sense
-How the calendar could be better
-How people in the UK use their time
-What we can learn from the regrets of people who are dying about their lives
-Inspirational quotes
This is a very popular and thought provoking assembly, and one of my favorites. Highly recommended.
This fascinating lesson introduces students to the Jehovahâs Witness faith.
It looks at myths and facts about Jehovahâs Witnesses, teaching the students about their background, history, beliefs, traditions and way of life.
The students will take part in a treasure hunt to find the answer to questions, and compare Jehovahâs witnesses to Christianity.
A really fun and interesting lesson full of interesting resources.
I have also included teachers notes for anyone unfamiliar with this faith.
This is a fun lesson for Drama or English that gets the pupils to think about how to build an original character.
It includes a number of activities and some fun drama games to get the students warmed up.
This is a powerpoint presentation that can be used to stimulate debate and allow the students to explore major world issues and topics.
There are 51 different topics here and these cover popular debating topics (animal rights, immigrants, democracy) and more obscure topics (about junk food and curfews!)
Really useful starter, plenary, tutor time activity, drama activity or in a debating club.
This lesson was originally created for RS but can easily be adapted for any written subject (Especially English, History, Geography or PSHE)
It encourages pupils to challenge each other and work on their literacy skills.
The students have to support or challenge a proposition, and then have a live debate but in complete silence.
It is also good prep for writing an essay style question in RS where the students need to consider multiple perspectives about the same issue.
The students love this lesson and often ask to do the lesson again!
This is a surprisingly effective lesson that the pupils really enjoy.
