This PowerPoint will allow you to teach students the GCSE 9-1 Chemistry content on Making Salts by Acid-Alkali titration. Note This does not cover the Triple-only content on titration calculations or performing a titration as part of a Core Practical; that is covered in a separate lesson for the Quantitative Analysis topic. This lesson is simply about using titration to make salts from acids and solubles bases, in contrast to the methods used for making salts from acids and insoluble bases. The resources are easy to follow for teachers, readily accessible for students and are appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers. This double-lesson PowerPoint will allow you to teach the GCSE 9-1 specification Chemistry lessons on Methods of Separation and Purification, including filtration, evaporation & crystallisation, simple distillation and fractional distillation. The resources allow delivery of one lesson covering the required theory for each separation technique, then an optional second lesson where the pupils use filtration and evaporation as part of a purification process (distillation is carried out by the students in a separate Core Practical lesson). Full equipment lists are provided for the teacher demonstrations and class practical tasks. This full lesson PowerPoint (including practical activity) can be used to teach a broad range of abilities about evaporation and boiling, and how to evaporate the solvent from a solution. This lesson assumes that students have already had a lesson to train them in lighting and using Bunsen burners.
