Unit of work covering the History of Marco Polo and an interpretation task on whether or not he went to China. Some numeracy questions too.

A simple resource to promote Saint David’s Day and aspects of Welsh culture/History during form time. This resource includes a Welsh and English version. The idea is to encourage pupils to write their answers on post-it notes. Best to print this resource onto at least A3 and laminate.

These are structure strips to aid pupils to successfully structure their answers for the Unit 1 exam. The theory is they glue a strip to the side of the page, and then follow the guidelines to help them get to grips of what each question demands for a good/high mark. Pupils then number code their answer. Teacher then marks the work and suggests lettered code(s) for improvement. The attached resources are for the Depression, War and Recovery Unit, but the headers on each strip can easily be edited for your specific unit title. The font colour will need to be darker for printing.

A revised version of my previous Depression, War and Recovery resources, catering for the requirements of the new specification (first exam in summer 2019). Two key questions here include: 1 What caused the Great Depression? (Competition from abroad, lack of investment, free trade, Wall Street Crash etc.) 2 How did people cope with the challenges of the 1930s? (Dole, Means Test, Hunger Marches, Special Areas Act, radio and cinema, new industries, contrast between old and new industry areas etc.) All 5 exam questions are covered at least once in the resources. All have reference to success criteria/structure strips to aid pupils understanding of the requirements. DIRT improvement codes included too. The actual structure strips will need to be purchased as an addition to this resource. All images are, as far as I’m aware, from google images (free to use). Those images that I’m aware are not, have been deleted - ready for you to insert the relevant picture.

A generic set of mark schemes for the Unit 2 paper on Elizabethan Age, Germany in Transition, Russia in Revolution and USA a nation of contrasts. All 5 exam style questions are included. All mark schemes have been subdivided into their relevant Assessment Objectives. All mark schemes have been designed to provide an element of self assessment, and coded improvements (DIRT). Any images associated with this resource have been accessed via Google images labelled for reuse.

A numeracy task for pupils to track Henry's journey through Wales in 1485. Pupils to measure to scale and calculate distance, average miles etc.

A vocabulary mat to help pupils write their answer to the question: Why did Henry Tudor win the Battle of Bosworth? This would work well with my Bosworth resource.

Using a mnemonic (Remember Rudolph Ate Santa's Christmas Pudding) pupils look at the key events between 1933 and 1939 that lead to war. Useful cartoon on youtube to aid learning.

What impact did the Black Death have on the British Isles? Pupils are asked to make a basic line graph showing the development of the British population between 1200 and 1600, with a focus on 1348-1350. Numeracy questions and RUCSAC task included.

A numeracy skills task asking pupils to plot on a multi coloured line graph the fortunes of 9 of the main parties in Germany between 1919 and 1933. RUCSAC task and other numeracy tasks included.

A sorting exercise for pupils to distinguish how the Nazis controlled the German people through a mixture of carrots, sticks and propaganda. Enjoy.

Resources focussing on how Hitler transformed Germany from a democratic republic into a Nazi dictatorship. Pupils look at the features of democracies and dictatorships.
