I used this question as a starter to consolidate learning of simultaneous equations with a top set year 10 class. Would work well as a plenary too? The question gets the students to form the simulatenous equations 1st based on a worded question using the characters from Finding Nemo!

This is a ppt I put together for my Y10 class sitting their Edexcel (Linked Pair Pilot) METHODS in Mathematics GCSE examinations. I tried to put on all the key formulae they'd need to remember that is not given on the examination formulae sheet.

This is a 'Connect Thoughts' board. The task is played like the 'Connect 4' game where the class choose any 4 tasks to complete in a row. The rows of questions are leveled and is a great way to differentiate, I have found.

I created this GCSE Trigonometry Revision sheet for my Y11 students. I printed the pdf document on A3 paper and got students to complete the questions on the sheet, adding in their own notes/mnemonics to help them remember when to use each rule/formula. The students really enjoyed doing this activity in class as part of their revision for their examinations and then took their A3 sheets home to use as part of their ongoing revision. Once the sheet was filled in, and checked/marked we used them to answer questions from text books/past exam papers. One of my students' completed sheets is attached too.

This is a plenary activity I do when teaching Properties of Quadrilaterals. I use my ABCD Fans (see my free resources) for this, but mini whiteboards would work just as well. 10 questions to test students knowledge on the properties of quadrilaterals.

This is my 'takeaway homework' menu I give to my students. The pdf contains a ready to print version of the menu to give straight to students. The idea is that they choose any task to complete for their homework from the menu. I set these homeworks over a half term and students have to earn a set amount of 'chillies' in these weeks. On the ppt file I have an editable version of the menu for you to change my name etc to suit your students - this can then be printed as above. A set of 100+ Plenary questions/tasks to use in your Mathematics lessons. Print, cut up and laminate each page of this resource before hole punching and binding the ‘sticks’ together for plenty of use in your lessons. Based on a popular app, and having taken inspiration from the ideas of @reflectivemaths and @srcav, I have created my own Mathematics version to add a bit of literacy across the curriculum. This set includes the words: circle, segment, alternate, chord, intersect, angle and centre. I hope these are of use as starters to introduce topics. Differentiated by hiding letters to choose from initially and then revealing them if class struggle. For low ability I would reveal letters at the start.

I made these loyalty cards earlier in the year to be used with Y11 classes revising for their GCSEs. Can be easily adapted for any subject/year group where you can offer rewards for improvement, enthusiasm and performance in your lessons.

I have created these Mathematics Awards to give to my students following their recent GCSE Mock examinations. The idea is to give them these in an 'Award&'s Ceremony&'; type lesson when they get their marked papers back and fill in AfL tracker sheets etc. Easy to alter these for any subject/teacher (just get rid of my name). I run the ppt as a presentation in class, and print off the slides to give to students as certificates to take home.

This is a template I created for students to create their own Mathematical advent calendar. The idea is that you print off the front sheet, students cut around the dashed lines to open the 'doors&', they then stick this sheet onto a blank piece of the same sized paper. Then, they write mathematical calculations, sums, equations etc on the &';doors', the answers to which will be the numbers 1-25. They then write jokes, fun facts, pictures etc in the &'doors&';. Here's a set of 50 Mathematics Taboo Cards I have created; easy to change the Key words/taboo words as needed. I print these out, laminate them and then use them in class for revision or as a starter activity to engage students. Good for literacy across the curriculum.
