A unit on separating materials and chemical changes suitable for higher ages of primary or lower secondary. Includes 9 separate lessons all with help/answer sheets and some with supporting information slides. All lessons include an introduction with short video, experiment planning with question and variables, an experiment to complete with data collection (either observations/numerical data), a conclusion and analysis as well as review quizzes. There is also a summative assessment practical with written answers, quiz and mark scheme.
Topics covered include - separation techniques, dissolving, reversible and irreversible changes, making a survival water filter, saturated solutions, energy in food, chromatography (separating colours), heating water and making crystals.
