Edexcel CC10b products from electrolysis. This presentation guides students through predicting the products of electrolysis firstly with molten ionic salts, then with aqueous ionic salts and finally it gives a few examples that are unusual eg purification of copper and electrolysis of sodium sulfate. there are 3 differentiated worksheets included with this.

Edexcel CC10a Electrolysis of Copper Sulphate. This presentation gives students some background knowledge of the procedure, steps to carry out the procedure adn then some questions to ask in the analysis of their results. There is also a slide that summarises the key pints that can be printed off, laminated and put on display.

Edexcel CC9a Mass and empirical formulae. This presentation guides students through relative atomic mass, relative formula mass and determining empirical formulae. A differentiated worksheet is included as well.

Edexcvel CC12a Dynamic Equilibrium. This powerpoint introduces students to reversible reactions, equilibrium in closed systems and then discusses the Haber Process as a manufacturing process that looks at changing the conditions of a reversible reaction to maximise product and profit.

This powerpoint introduces KS3 to air pollution and ways to reduce it.

Edexcel Combined Science CC8d Alkalis and balancing equations.This powerpoint starts off with looking at some common alkalis and how to name salts formed from alkalis reacting with acids. It then guides the student through how to write word and balanced symbol equations in easy to follow steps with plenty of examples to practice.

Edexcel CC11d Life Cycle Assessment and recycling. This introduces students to the life cycle assessment for various products including metals, paper and plastic.

This is all the resources I created for the TDA element of AQA ELC double science. It includes powerpoints for each TDA for component 1,2,3, 4, 5 and 6, which includes a method card sort. It also includes 2 versions of the TDA record sheet - a lower ability and medium ability version. There is also a powerpoint to be used to teach variables and also graph work.

Edexcel CC5c Properties of Ionic Compounds. This presentation starts by looking at the particles and forces present in ionic compounds. It then explains why ionic compounds have high melting and boiling points and finishes by looking at why ionic compounds conduct electricity. This presentation also includes 3 differentiated worksheets and refers to the CC5c.1 practical from Edexcel looking at testing and identifying ionic compounds.

Edexcel Combined Science CC8eAlkalis and neutralisation. This powerpoint starts with a quick recap of previous lessons, followed by looking at neutralisation and what happens to the ions involved. Neutralisation in action is discussed and then students are guided through how to make a pure, dry soluble salt from alkalis using titrations. The plenary can be printed off and laminated to make a card sort if desired.

Edexcel Combined Science CC8b Looking at acids - higher students. This powerpoint starts with practice at converting between cm3 and dm3 and vice versa. (Maths skills - converting units) It looks at the difference between strong and weak acids and concentrated and dilute acids. It also discusses the ions in solution and how they relate to pH. (Maths skill - factors)

A lesson to introduce ionic bonding to year 11. This should be followed up by more lessons that go into more detail on each section. This could also be used as a revision of ionic bonding before the exams!
