Taken from the WJEC GCSE Specification. This first lesson covers an introduction to why businesses exist / start up as well as the charateristics of entrepreneurs.
Learners need to understand the nature of business activity and how it is concerned with meeting the needs of customers by providing a product or service, in most cases, for a profit.
At the heart of business activity is enterprise and entrepreneurs, who initiate and grow businesses, with a wide range of aims and objectives. These objectives often adapt as businesses grow and as the market and competitive environment in which they operate changes. Business organisations vary in size and ownership and operate in local, national and global contexts. Businesses have many stakeholders who are affected by business activity and can also impact on business behaviour.
In line with the WJEC specification but suitable for a variety of exam boards. This lessons focuses on in the ins and out of Private Limited Companies and Public Limited Companies. Exam practice and WAGOLL’s also included.
As per the WJEC specification, this lesson covers:
The provision of goods and services for consumers and producers
Distinguish between the private and public sector in the provision of goods
and services.
The resources needed to produce goods and services
Distinguish between consumer and producer goods, durable and non-durable goods and personal and commercial services.
Learners do not need to have detailed knowledge of the public sector
Learners need to recognise the purpose, types of goods and services provided and examples of organisations in the private and the public sector
Including raw materials, machinery and equipment, workers and site
Looking at the size and scale of businesses. Including reference to Local, National and international businesses.

Understanding how these sectors have changed over the years and how businesses have contributed to these changes.

This lesson introduces students to how charities are ran, their liability and how they are funded. It also gives students a chance to think about why some charities have governmental involvement and some do not.
Multiple lessons included.
