What’s included?
This download includes x2 (portrait orientation, pdf) A4 sheets, featuring one ‘Easter’ word search (page 1). The answers on page 2 clearly show where all words are hidden, displayed in the same layout (as page 1) to promote autonomy whilst providing easy comparison/quick reference.
Who’s it for?
This word search has been designed for pupils the early years, in years one and two, as well as students needing additional learning support. Nouns are illustrated to make the meaning of these words clear to learners - this would also benefit pupils with EAL.
Resource layout
The word search letters are arranged in a x12 by x12 square grid and featuring easy to read ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font.
The Easter words have been organised into four groups, clearly showing all hidden words below the word search. There are x24 words to find in total.
These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (backwards-down and backwards-up). Words to find are; church, easter, cross, hot cross buns, lent, bunny, chick, lamb, new life, rabbit, spring, basket, bonnet, collect, find, hide, hunt, seek, chocolate, decorate, eggs, patterns, daffodils, and tulips.
Recommendations
I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified, some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible. This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused.

This resource could be used during a group/class singing session - using blue tac/velcro (the old fashioned way!) to display the ten bottles and removing one each time. In my experience learners just love to be chosen to knock the next bottle (physically) to the ground - I have found this beats any online/animated version every single time!

Writing words resource
Pages 1-2. Learners are to sound out and write the words for the images featured on the sheet, one image per box. These sheets are differentiated - page 1 is easier to complete (than page 2) as lines (to write on) show how many sounds are in each word.
Red lines/letters to write on indicate a ‘tricky’ sound which may be difficult to hear clearly when the word is spoken, e.g. ‘planets’ is often said as ‘planits’ with an ‘i’ sound. Learners may need help with these (red) letters/sounds.
Page 3 clearly shows the answers.

How to use it?
Resource 1. An adult prints these two pages out (ideally onto card) and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate the ‘letters/images/words’. Instructions are also included (left side). The set (of cut up letters, images and words) can then be placed on a table top for learners to match - the correct initial letter with the image AND word - as a ‘three part’ mini jigsaw puzzle. Each (correct) letter and word only fits the corresponding image.

As said, these CVC cards have been designed to be printed double-sided on card to use with the ‘Function Machine’ (~instructions of how to make one of these included) to practise sounding out simple CVC (Phase 2 phonics) words - Learners read each word then push the card into the top function machine slot and can see if they are correct when the picture pops out of the slot below.
This activity has been designed to be a simple, interactive, predictable activity to promote independence and consolidate learning. This activity is ideal for individuals to be getting on with independently.
How to use it?
An adult needs to print these card (double-sided) onto card and and pre-cut the cards into x10 separate rectangle cards.
The set of cards can then be placed on a table top, positioned with a ‘Function Machine’ for learners to use on their own or perhaps with adult support (initially). Learners read each word by sounding out the individual phonemes, they then push the card into the top slot of the function machine and find out if they are correct when the picture pops out of the lower slot…
Phoneme ‘dots’ have been included under every grapheme so that learners know how many sounds to say as they read (sound out) the words.

What’s it for?
These colours have been designed to install and sense of awe and wonder - the coloured shapes look so beautiful when the sun shines through them and where the colour ‘falls’ depends on the position of the colours in relation to the sun which changes as the sun’s position changes. The set gives an opportunity to showcase the whole set of colours together as a focus to encourage learners to recognise and name each colour. The colours can of course be repositioned and displayed as you choose. I have included a ‘Colours!’ label to be displayed with the set of shapes.
This resource would also support work on shadows and light/dark.

Suggestions
I recommend printing and making these letters out of white card - paper would be too flimsy and see-through so not effective. A set of coloured acetate/cellophane sheets is needed to make these - these are quite inexpensive on Amazon(!)
I recommend also backing every colour in white card so that the coloured acetate/cellophane is concealed - this looks so much nicer on the window and makes each letter stronger however is twice the work and time and to do this x6 sheets of A4 white card will be needed (instead of x3 sheets).

This ‘phase 3’ phonics practise activity set has been designed to be a simple, predictable activity to promote independence and consolidate learning. This activity is ideal for groups to be getting on with independently.

How to use it?
Each learner needs to cut out x12 ‘phoneme pictures’ and match x2 of these ‘phoneme pictures’ to every grapheme (printed on the left of each sheet). Dotted lines guide where to cut, though picture-squares could be pre-cut for those who struggle with cutting out.

Optional Extension
Adding the word labels is optional and best provided as an extension for more able/quick learners. The word labels are not consistently sound-out-able and learners would need to use their knowledge of the phonemes/graphemes already matched during the activity and look at the initial/final letter sounds to help them.

These rhymes have been designed for learners to practise reading simple words (images make it clear what the noun-words are!) and practise each phonic sound using a pointer (or pointy finger!) My classes of early years and year one children were really motivated to use these and very good at practising them quietly to themselves using ‘whispery voices’ (so cute!) I found that all learners really enjoyed using these with a ‘pointer’ which I had a pot of (pointers!) stored with the rhymes, ready to use. What’s included?
This download includes x15 A4, portrait pdf sheets to practise reading and writing CVC words mostly within Phase 2. Sounds from Phase 3 include j, v, w, z and sh.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as older students needing additional learning support.
What’s it for?
This activity is interactive and encourages learners to sound out and read simple CVC words and think about what these words mean. Some words of course may have more than one meaning, however for the purpose of this activity I have only provided one illustration for every word. For ‘new’ words learners may need to work by process of elimination to identify the correct word/picture combination to record this (in writing) on the sheet provided.
Resource Details
There are x5 (colour coded) sets included here. Each set includes one ‘CVC wheel’ to make with easy to follow instructions. Once the wheel is assembled when turned different initial letters are revealed to make x9 CVC words per wheel.
ALL words are ‘real’ (not ‘nonsense’) words.
CVC words include the sounds ‘an’, ‘et’, ‘ip’, ‘og’ and ‘ug’
Differentiation
Also included is one sheet in two levels of difficulty. The first sheet only has the initial sound missing (easier), the second sheet has ALL letters missing - for learners to write on the lines provided (more challenging). The level of difficulty is indicated by an icon at the base of each sheet (right side) - green for easier, red for more challenging.
There is a clear space for learners to write their name at the base of each sheet (left side). The CVC phonics wheel can be reused time and again.
Suggestion
I suggest printing and making the phonics wheel out of card which is stronger so more robust than paper and easier to turn.

How to use it?
All sheets can be printed onto paper. Page 3 can be made into a miniature book (simple instructions included). To make a book scissors and a glue stick are all that is needed. Once the book is made either the colour set of words/images (page 1) OR the black and white set of words/images (page 2) can be cut and ordered alphabetically and then stuck into the miniature book (one word/image per page).
Page 1 is the colour version of words/images which all begin with ‘l’. These can be cut up (using the dotted lines as a guide for where to cut). Page 2 is the black and white version of page 1 but in addition includes the outline of each word with a starting dot for each letter - encouraging learners to write the word for each image themselves. Learners can also colour these images.
Pages 1 and 2 could be used together as two sets of cards to play a pairs/matching game, for this these pages would be better printed onto card (so that the images cannot be seen through the back as would be the case if using paper).
