This is a copy of all of the questions that I used for my GCSE students this summer. They sat the edexcel course but the questions could equally be used for the AQA course.

This resource is designed to support students in preparation for their reading and listening exam in French and is suitable for foundation and higher students. I have put the list together from QLA of the papers. This resource contains knowledge organisers on the topic of Holidays which includes: holiday choices past holidays future holidays transport accommodation

A large bundle of knowledge organisers on the GCSE topics of school and the world of work. An easy to follow knowledge organiser on the topic of school uniform which includes: -a verb table -items of clothes, colours and other adjectives -a list of impressive phrases.

The bundle includes: Knowledge organisers and vocabulary tests on the environment, global issues, poverty and international events which are differentiated between higher and foundation. A lesson on introducing environmental issues (starters f/h, a powerpoint and a speaking activity) A lesson on how I help the environment (starter to revise the lesson on environmental problems, verb drills on modal verbs and a starter translation sheet)

There are two powerpoints. One is for the foundation tier and one is for the higher tier. They both build up confidence with: understanding the bullet points -interactive games Snakes and ladders game how to ask a question.

A wordsearch to revise. This includes the top 30 most common words that appear in answers on the French Edexcel listening and reading papers from 2018-2021. Students need to translate the words into French and then find the French word in the puzzle.

A whole GCSE lesson on whether it is better to live in the countryside or in the town. This includes: A starter sheet which matches up the French and English A powerpoint which consolidates key verbs, a speaking gapfill task, a listening with strategies and DIRT (answers included) Two trap door activites which are differentiated for foundation and higher. A translation task from French into English which is also differentiated foundation to higher.

A worksheet that I made to support the teaching of adjectives from Studio at GCSE. The sheet includes match up activities, translations and a mini extended writing task based on adjectives and previous work on physical appearance.

This French retrieval starter includes the following items: a mixture of vocabulary and grammar building exercises a self quiz of some of the key verbs in all 3 tenses to support the development of writing and speaking.

Resource A: I made this as a KS3 resource to show students that learning languages can certainly open doors in the future. Plan: Students mark on the progress line what they think of languages at the start of the lesson. Students listen to the celebrities talking about the languages that they speak and complete exercise A of the worksheet. Students read the statements and decide which ones are true. These are reviewed throughout the lesson and are finally marked at the end so that students can reflect on their learning throughout the lesson. The resources also include a version of the Game of Life. This is based on real life accounts of linguists. The links to the videos are in the footnotes of the powerpoint slides. Resource B Students complete the word search on page one of the workbook. This has some of the jobs that you can do with a language. Students then play Call my Bluff (explained on the ppt), This game matches job descriptions and jobs. Students then look at some of the international comapnies that recruit linguists by playing a snap game. The lesson ends with a true false test on why languages are important. This is also on resource A One of the video links is used again in resource B. I made resource B to follow on from A that I had used in the previous year.

Two activities to support students to talk about what they watch on TV and why. I used this with a mixed ability class of higher and foundation students.

Here are six planning sheets to get students to speak more spontaneously at foundation level so that they are not writing full sentences in the prep time on their CN2 form. Topics covered are: -part-time jobs -future job -when you have recently used a language -living and working abroad-an opinion -what you did at work recently -opinion on apprenticeship or university -a recent school trip -opinions on school subjects and sports at school -a school trip you would like to go on -a lesson that you have done recently -a sporting activity that you have done recently How I use this resource. I give students time to translate the bullet points and to write key words in each square. I give them key vocab to reinforce what they constantly forget or find hard. I would then read a question that matches the bullet point (I usually would make these up). I would then ask a student to give their answer. If the answer is good then on the smart board I write their name in the box. So if they answer describe the photo covering all parts of palms then their name goes in the first box. On each box to get their name in a box they must cover all of the prompts. I keep doing this repeatedly for about five minutes. Once all of the boxes have a name in then students can knock a student out of a box and replace it with their name. At the end of the five minutes all students with their name in the box get a house point.
