A PPT which covers 2 lessons on factorising quadratics- The first lesson looks at factorising quadratics like x^2 + 2 + 4 and the second lesson looks at factorising quadratics when there is a number in front of x^2. Each lesson has a starter which focuses on exam practice, a range of different examples, an exercise, exam practice and a plenary. This pack also contains a summary homework and mark scheme

A resource pack that helps pupils to get to grips with substituting numbers into an expression. Starter: Exam Practice- help pupils to recap over the basic questions in the exam that they SHOULD NOT get wrong. Examples: Explains to pupils how to substitute numbers into an expression- use of colours to show where each number came from. Main task: Worksheet to work on the knowledge they just gained and to put what they had learnt into practice. (Answers on the PPT) Extension: Building on what they have learnt into exam questions. (Answers included in PDF format) Plenary: To reflect upon what they have been able to do, what they need to improve and their TOP TIP for answering these style questions. This lesson focus on changing the subject of a formula. The lesson pack includes a PPT, a worksheet and an extensions tasks (all with answers). The PPT has a starter which focuses on exam practice, a range of examples that cover different types of changing the formula questions and a plenary to give pupils time to reflect on the lesson.

This is the tenth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography. This lesson looks at how we create sustainable communities/ the different factors that help us to create one. Students also look at what Egan’s wheel is and how it is used to help us to create a sustainable community. Students also look at BedZED as our case study of a sustainable community (this is done as a research/ ICT task). This lesson is the ninth lesson in the second theme of the new WJEC/ Eduqas 2016 specification for geography. This lesson looks at why we have a housing crisis and what solutions there are to slow down the crisis. One of these solutions are garden cities in which we look in detail and look at Plasdwr as our garden city. This case study will also form part of the greenfield development case study. Exam practise on “To what extent” and “How far do you agree?” questions is done throughout to help pupils practise a really hard exam question type. Lesson 11 looks at the Savannah Grassland characteristics- climate, vegetation and why they are found where they are found. (This lesson is similar to lesson 9) Lesson 12 looks at the different processes that operate in the Savannah. This lesson is the 17th lesson in the fifth theme of the new WJEC/ WJEC Eduqas 2016 specification for geography. This lesson looks at how the savannah can be managed sustainably. The 10 minutes on sheet helps students engage and recap on previous lessons work on the savannah- the sheet idea came from Jen Monk. Most of the activities are on the powerpoint. As this is the last teaching lesson, pupils will as homework have to complete the assessed homework, which helps them to focus their revision on areas of weakness after it is marked. The markscheme is detailed which will help you as teachers to be able to mark the assessed homework with ease. This lesson looks at the factors that affect the UK’s climate, the air masses that affect the UK and how the jet stream plays a role in the UK’s climate. These are the 9th and 10th lesson in the fifth theme of the new WJEC/ WJEC Eduqas 2016 specification for geography. The 9th lesson looks at the characteristics of the tropical rainforest. Students look at the climate and vegetation of the rainforest. They practise their exam skills at being able to describe distribution and plotting a climate graph by using a given set of data. All the activities/ tasks are on the powerpoint. The 10th lesson looks at the processes that occur within the tropical rainforest. Students summarise their understanding by completing the worksheet attached. Those that completed the extension question, then the markscheme for it is also attached. Pupils learn this through an example of the Amazon Rainforest and pupils look at the positives and negatives of human activity. This lesson is the 16th lesson in the fifth theme of the new WJEC/ WJEC Eduqas 2016 specification for geography. This lesson looks at different strategies that can be used to sustainably manage the rainforest. The 10 minutes on sheet is the starter to get pupils thinking about what they have learnt already about rainforests by recapping over previous lessons worth of work. The idea for the sheet came from the marvelous Jen Monk (@Jennnnnn_x). The keep it, bin it, build it sheet came from the brilliant Paul (@ploguey). The lesson contains exam practise with the marking sheet so you can easily mark students work and students can get use to a consistent and easy marking sheet.
