These were originally used to teach Edexcel GCSE ICT but they can easily be used in some cases as stand alone ICT/Computer Science lessons. Business GCSE Edexcel 1.2.4 The Competitive Market This resource includes a starter question, a bit of theory for the exam, an activity and a plenary. The powerpoint covers: Competition Differentiation Ways to compete Competitive market Plenary questions from previous topic learning 1.1-1.2 The activity: The activity is a market research activity, supermarket research is in the document, students need to decide what kind of a supermarket they could create in order to beat the competition. The market research is already done, so access to computers isn’t necessary, however it might make for a stronger lesson. The students need to answer questions and also sketch out designs.

I have used this for Year 8's to refresh the e-safety topic. Students are to research blogs based on topics that they are interested in e.g. sports, beauty, pets etc. From here students are to analyse these blogs encouraging them to look more closely. Using the material from last lesson (please see previous resource). Students are required to complete the analysis and peer assessment, they then need to plan their blog using either paper or the computer. These plans should then be peer assessed using the previous sheet. Students will then be ready to move on to lesson 3.

I have used this for Year 9's to refresh the e-safety topic as we often discuss around the topic. Based on the previous lesson, students are to write a short synopsis of how they will carry out their website creation making them consider the steps they need to take and to provide them with a list of tasks that they need to complete. Students can then start to use the Web design software, we use WebPlus but anything similar would be fine to use. I normally allow them to choose a topic, but the option of making it e-safety based is in there.

I have used this for Year 9's to refresh the e-safety topic as we often discuss around the topic. Students are required to consider the aesthetics of a website they enjoy visiting and a website that they may find difficult to use. Students then need to analyse both websites in order to prepare to make their own website. Students then create a mind map for their website, I normally give them a free choice as they find this more engaging. Students will then be ready to move on to lesson 2.

A game that can be used as a plenary or to identify key terms for a lesson. I often use 'fun' categories, followed by a couple more serious ones. I have included a tutorial of how to play and a blank sheet to print out. Students are required to think of words for each category and as soon as they have filled in all the categories in a horizontal line they need to shout 'stop the bus' everyone needs to put their pens down and they can score points by putting original words in. Teacher or student to pick the letter that the whole class use. Please see tutorial for more detail. Only trouble I have had is trying to score the class as a whole when they play individually. I often just use the person who has said stop the bus first.

Edexcel GCSE ICT, unit 3 operating online. I am not an ICT teacher, but I am teaching ICT. I have primarily used the Edexcel Revsion Guide which has been great, but I needed a a power point to teach from, so this is what I have made. It's not very detailed, but it's a starting point for teachers in the same position as me.
