Two multiplication codebreaker riddle worksheets aimed at KS2/3. Solve the multiplication questions in each box to crack the code and reveal the answer to the riddle. Great fun for primary children and also an effective lesson starter activity for secondary maths lessons. All sheets are in pdf format and answer sheets are included.

Given that a=2, b=3 and c=5, students need to substitute into the given expressions in order to match up the triangular pieces and solve the puzzle. Once completed, the pieces make a hexagon. With 30 expressions to substitute into, this activity makes a great lesson starter/settling activity or alternatively can be used as a group activity to test students’ understanding of algebraic substitution.
