The complete plan for delivery of the AQA DT 9-1 GCSE. Contains intent statements, marking policy and overviews, as well as structured breakdown of the course into Y10 training projects and associated theory topics and Y11 NEA. This document supports the other resources I have uploaded here. Please see my shop for all related projects and theory lessons.
This is a 7 lesson focused practical task that requires students to manufacture a Storage Box themed like a book that utilizes a living hinge from the provided orthographic drawings. The Frame consists of a butt, mitre, dowel and lap joint construction. The base materials needed are 3mm MDF and Pine (softwood).
Each lesson includes two retrieval tasks, clear sharable lesson objectives, DNA (do now activities) and a Teacher narration slide as standard. There are embedded GIF’s (7 second animations) that demonstrate each task that is required from simple marking out to cutting joints to assembling the final CAD drawing. This supports all learners to make progress no matter what stage they are at and frees the teacher up to better support.
The file sizes for each lesson are big due to the inclusion of embedded videos and GIF’s. As a result, they cannot be uploaded to TES directly. I have included a PDF version of the PowerPoint for instant download, a sample of the PowerPoint and a link to the OneDrive file where you can download the full resource and files required to deliver the project.
If you like what I have produced for this project please check out my other resources, they all follow a similar structure with a consistent design layout.
I have produced a full range of theory lessons to support the AQA design technology GCSE 9-1. There are 40 lessons that are taught one a week throughout Y10 (listed below).
Each lesson has learning objectives, starter/bell task, content (GIF’s used to support learning), plenary and summary slides in PowerPoint. I have also included a fully supported student handout which includes homework questions and summative assessment section.
As well as theory lessons I have uploaded projects that are delivered alongside these theory topics. Please check these out in my shop along with tracker sheets and learning journeys for a complete package.

Complete 10 lesson project that guide students step by step to create an adjustable hard wood desk lamp. Delivers a range of manufacturing skills across a range of materials to build skills and exposure. We deliver this as a training project to our Y12 DT students but could easily be delivered lower down the school with support. Materials include aluminium, hardwood, polystyrene. Main Manufacturing techniques include marking out, mortise cutting, metal lathe turning, vacuum forming.
This is a full set of 40 theory lessons to support the delivery of the AQA DT specification. They are designed to be taught in small 30 minute sections with the questions set for homework/self-study. They are grouped into 4 booklets of 10, and are to be delivered alongside practical projects. These are available separately, please see the front cover of each booklet, they are named here.

I am developing a full range of theory lessons to support the new AQA design technology GCSE starting in 2017. There are 30 lessons that are taught 1 a week throughout Y10.
Each lesson has learning objectives, starter/bell task, content (GIF’s used to support learning), plenary and summary slides in PowerPoint. I have also included a fully supported student handout which includes homework questions and summative assessment section.
To support the theory lessons I have uploaded, please download my pupil tracker sheet.
As well as theory lessons I have uploaded project/skills learning journeys that can be easily customised to the projects you are delivering.
All content is fully branded and is graphically consistent.
Please check out my other resources and give feedback if you find my resources helpful.
If there are any missing video links, please contact me and I will send.
I bulk print these at the start of the year, every time a pupil is absent one is stuck on the work they have missed. it is then very clear to see what has been missed and what work needs to be completed.
