Primary PSHE - Year 3 - Responsible Citizens Scheme of Work

This 3-week scheme of work is taken from the EC Publishing Primary PSHE scheme.

Our curriculum builds progressively, leading to this Year 3 unit on Responsible Citizens. In Reception, pupils learned about classroom rules and the importance of being good listeners. In Year 1, they explored safety rules at home, school, and in their local area. In Year 2, this developed into learning about wants and needs, and how community helpers can offer support when needed.

In this Year 3 unit, pupils will deepen their understanding of what it means to be a responsible member of their community. They will investigate the difference between rules and laws, and explore their rights, such as the right to education and safety, and the responsibilities that come with them. Pupils will also reflect on how everyone plays a role in looking after others and shared spaces, and learn how giving time and effort through volunteering can make a positive difference.
