A comprehensive Geography lesson teaching intentional changes made by humans at the coast. This is part of Physical Landscapes (OCR) specification, but can be taught across A Level Geography. It is a case study on the OCR A Level Geography specification.
Lesson aims are:
- Understand why the Sandbanks coastline is managed and the specific management strategies used.
- Explain the impacts of these strategies on coastal processes, sediment budgets, and energy flows.
- Explain how management has changed coastal landforms and landscapes.
- Evaluate the success and consequences of the management strategies.
The lesson includes a detailed, editable PowerPoint, with embedded tasks, 8-mark question practice, teacher talk, worksheets and student activities. A reading task is also included (for in-class or homework).
This is suitable for KS5 or KS4, but is best suited to KS5, because of the depth of terminology and case study knowledge.
