A colourful timeline containing 17 key events leading up to Victory in Europe in 1945. This can be laminated and displayed in the classroom to aid learning aimed at understanding the events leading up to the defeat of fascism. Each event contains a date; an event; a brief explanation of the event and a representative picture. Suitable for all age groups.

This display was created to cover a key event for every day in history of the academic year. It contains pictures of a key event in history with information. The picture can be changed daily and lends itself to a working display. Useful for the primary or secondary classroom.

This is the first lesson in a A Level Civil Rights Part 1 - African-Americans SOL. It focuses on the emancipation of slaves and considers the question regarding whether or not emancipation resulted in freedom. The activities are varied and are targeted at stretching students’ thinking in preparation for success at A Level. The lesson is fully resourced, but can also be used in conjunction with any A Level approved textbook. Duration: 2 hours.

It analyses both early and late foreign policy during the reign of Elizabeth, and is the second in a 3 lesson bundle (also available) on Elizabethan foreign policy. It considers considers her gender and marriage and gives students the opportunity to consider her different options and evaluate them. The lesson is taught through using a range of activities and key terms necessary for success at A Level. This resource is a 79 page workbook (space for answers included) which is aimed at helping students understand the assessment requirements for the new EDEXCEL Migrants in Britain breadth study. It contains: A course outline The EDEXCEL generic mark scheme for reference Instructions on how to answer each question type with explanations of the AOs and how to gain the marks for each A sample answer for each question-type with commentary on where the marks are gained Practice questions for each question type (8 for questions 1 and 3, and 4 for questions 2; 4 and 5/6) A glossary area where students can record key terminology with definitions to help maximise SPaG marks This can be used as a single document to keep all assessments together and it addresses the lack of sample questions available for the new option. This lesson has been created for the study of President Nixon and the Watergate Scandal at A Level. It can be used ideally to support the teaching of the American Dream unit, however can be used for any post 16 study of President Nixon. It contains varied research activities; videos and primary source analysis to prepare students for high level evaluation skills needed for success at A Level.

One hundred questions in 60 minutes. This quiz can be done individually; in pairs or in groups depending on the size of the A Level class. It enables students to revise the content of the Year 12 course through competition, and is fun as an end of term activity. I often give prizes to the students who score the highest, although I have never had a 100% success yet!!! The questions are challenging and require 1 word/one sentence answers. Answers are included for self-assessment. This resource assesses and consolidates student knowledge while they are having fun.

This is the seventh lesson in an 8 lesson scheme of learning for key stage 3 on the Industrial Revolution. It involves research into how the social conditions in the cities during the industrial revolution aided criminals and made solving crime very difficult for the police. Students are required to consider a variety of sources to reach a judgment in an extended writing task. All sources and the writing frame are included within the power point for copying. This could also be used as a GCSE resource to support the teaching of the historic environment on the crime and punishment unit. No text book is needed.

These revision cards are aimed to support the learning for the examination of lower and middle prior attainers who struggle to process the complexities of the Cold War at GCSE. The contain a comprehensive bank of cards which highlight the key features of Cold War events, and the importance of each event for the development of the Cold War as demanded by Edexcel. The cards are simple and to the point. They can be cut up and the students can test each other on the events and play games with the cards. Aimed at students aspiring to attain levels 4-6 in the examination. There are 72 cards in total which cover 36 key Cold War events.
