This AQA English Language Speaking and Listening resource contains 5 lessons along with resources and assessment criteria. The lessons all include interesting and inspirational speeches as well as tips and tricks for presentation. I have tried to make it quite humorous to engage those tricky students and provide plenty of opportunity for discussion, group work and independent work. This resource contains 5 skills tutorials in order to prepare students who are due to go out on work experience. The first lesson “Why is work experience so important?” allows students to understand the need for work experience and the benefits it will create. Lesson 2 “Finding out what I want to do” allows students to explore their interests (and even find out what they are!), alongside a range of different career options. Lesson 3 “How to approach businesses and employers” shows students the best way to contact businesses to arrange their own work experience placement. This includes template emails and how to make their emails appealing. Lesson 4 “First day jitters” prepares students for their placements with what to wear, what to take with them, how to prepare the night before, and finally Lesson 5 “Using your experience for the future” allows students to reflect on their work placement and add their newly acquired skills to their CV.
Complete with a range of activities and worksheets for students to use, these lessons will ensure your students go out to work experience fully prepared.

This resource contains three employability sessions aimed at Year 10 students in secondary school through to Year 12 students embarking on Further Education. With the introduction of the up and coming T-Levels in 2020 and onwards, schools and colleges now need to prepare our young people for the world and work more than ever before and so these sessions aim to best prepare students. Session one “Finding a Work Placement” is to help students approach employers by themselves and how to dress appropriately, what to say and do etc before they start their initail placement. Session two “Confidence in the Work Place” is to highlight a students skill set, strengths and weaknesses and what a placement will consist of to develop weaker skill sets. Session three “Placement Review” is for students who have completed a CV or need to start from scratch writing a CV and shows students how best to make use of their work placement experience, reflecting on their time on a work placement and to consider plans for the future. Alongside this resource is an “Employability Skills Booklet” that allows students to track their sessions by making notes and writing down their ideas.
