, Discover “Big Grammar Book 2” - Your Essential Resource for English Grammar!
BGB 2 is packed with 101 printable worksheets designed to teach and improve grammar skills in English. The topics covered are wide and varied, starting with Essential English worksheets that address the basics, including the alphabet, days, months, and telling the time. The book then progresses to cover tenses (with a strong emphasis on tenses!), irregular verbs, question forms, word order in sentences, parts of English, uncountable nouns, and much more! If you have used the first BGB, you will know what to expect from this edition. Approximately 25% of the worksheets in this book closely model activities from BGB 1, such as Full Stops 1 & 2 (pp.68-69).
The material begins at the beginner level with alphabet worksheets, gradually increasing in difficulty while remaining at the Elementary (A1 / A2) level. Only towards the end do things become “tougher,” introducing articles, conditionals, and phrasal verbs. However, there’s no need to worry—all the answers and notes for use are included at the back of this book.
English teachers can effectively use Big Grammar Book 2 in the classroom, although it may be more beneficial to assign the worksheets as homework, allowing students to concentrate on speaking, listening, and group work—essentially producing language—during class time. This resource is also ideal for private study, whether for homework or self-study, and is well-suited for use in online lessons. Teachers are encouraged to adapt the worksheets, treating many pages as templates for creating their own activities. For instance, the sentence building worksheets (from p.60) are perfect for adaptation, among many others.
I hope you enjoy learning English with Big Grammar Book 2!
Remember: A good understanding of English grammar will open doors to numerous opportunities.
Can you spot the mistake in the text below?
What’s the chances of a manned mission to Mars?
It could be a problem with apostrophes or a missing article, or maybe it just doesn’t
make sense. It could be there’s a punctuation mark missing or a spelling mistake, or
perhaps the words used don’t agree – the verb is singular but the noun is plural …
What do you think? Not sure? You need this book!
Inside you will find 60 examples of incorrect English, including the one above,
adapted from genuine mistakes published in newspaper and magazine articles,
advertisements, websites, and leaflets. Each example has one mistake. Your task is
to find it and say what kind of mistake it is – then write the corrected version.
In the process you will improve your written English by learning to identify the common
mistakes that professional writers make and that professional editors and proofreaders
miss.
We all need to write to communicate with others. This book shows you how to
improve your written English by avoiding the mistakes that the professionals make.
ALSO INCLUDES OUR EXCLUSIVE A-Z OF ENGLISH GRAMMAR WORDS!
This version of the book has an improved reading format and packed full of colourful photos and images to further amuse and motivate students!
This book brings together some of the very best worksheets for teachers and students of English.
Whether you are a teacher or a student we hope that you will find something here to inspire you and make English language learning fun and relevant. The worksheets can be photocopied freely and are primarily intended for use with Entry Level students, although they will also provide useful practise for learners at all levels.
These worksheets have been written by an experienced English language teacher and used in English classes with learners from a wide variety of countries. At the back of the book is a short collection of fun classroom games that have been similarly tried and tested. Some may be familiar while others are original. In publishing descriptions of these games we are not in any way claiming credit for inventing them or owning them - our aim has been to collect together games that work and get a great response from students.
