This resource has a powerpoint and planning grid for a sequence of writing lessons to write instructions on making a lighthouse keeper sandwich. This includes colourful semantic adaptations, printable worksheets on slides and visual aids. I have include the retrieval that I have used for my class but this is all able to be changed.

This pack contains 6 different wordsearchs made to incorporate the 31 Yellow group red words. These can be used as morning activities, tray tasks, morning jobs or sent home for homework. All the wordsearchs have the words hidden in different areas to make it more challenging for the children.

This resource was created to help children with EAL, in particularly Shona, to communicate in school. It is useful and visual to help them express their needs and quickly pick up key english words and phrases that they may need to use in school. The communication board includes, feelings, parts of the body, wants and needs, basic places that they may need in school and other communication points. I have used it by printing the document double sided and then laminating, using treasury tags to make it into a booklet for the child to use. Due to the visual aids on it, it can be used with children of any age that are new to country and still learning the language.

A group of visual timetable cards useful for helping SEND children who may need things such as a now and next board or a large visual timetable. There is room for you to add your own picture onto the orange cards as people who are helping the child. It is an A4 piece of paper but can be printed and made larger. I wanted to ensure that the words did not become too blurry. Made using widgit.

To create the flashcards for your lanyard cut out each section and fold along the middle line, laminate and hole punch a corner to place them on your lanyard. They are extremely useful for children with EAL in school who may still be getting used to the English language. If the child is able, they can have their own personal set to use.

To help support some of our EYFS and year 1 children to blend, we created a pictorial version of the FRED games used by RWI. There are 8 different categories in this resource with each resource containing 6 pictures and words. These can be printed and laminated or put into plastic wallets or reusable wallets for the children to draw on. When using them personally, I have had a copy printed for each child, all of who have a whiteboard pen. I would say circle the d-o-g and they had to circle the dog. You can make this a game if you wish. For children that are still learning to recognize the letters, the games can be used by saying circle the word starting with m. The topics included on each of the games are clothing, weather, people, parts of the body, food x2, pets and instruments.

As we noticed a lack of assessment by RWI to assess the childrens ability to read red words we have created a tool to do so. This resource contains an excel spreadsheet, split into the groups and the red words within those. E.g a table for red group with space to put the children’s names down one side and the red words for that group across the top. This resource also contains a paper copy of this, stating at the top what the tool is used for. After each paper copy, there are red word cards that can be printed, copied and cut up to send home with the children to practice the red words for their group. I hope people find this useful!

These feeling fans are colour coded to the zones of regulation and have a visual as well as the English and Polish translation underneath. These are great for helping children with EAL communicate how they may be feeling of they do not yet have the English words to do so. (picture on the example is the romanian version but download will be the polish translation)

This is a template for you to cut and laminate a feelings fan. Has visuals as well as the English and Romanian translation. It has been colour coded to link with the zones of regulation colours. This can be very useful to communicate with children with EAL that may not yet know enough English to communicate with everyone.

Each group has a superhero board game ( grey group have 3 due to the amount of red words) for the children to enjoy and practice their red words. The sheets are A3 and can be printed on paper or card. I would suggest laminating them. Also comes with instructions but you can choose how you play it.

Assessment tool, great for checking where your children may be on numbots. I find it useful to take to pupil progress meetings, using it for teacher assessments and tracking where the children are when ensuring that I have the correct certificates written for them.
