This is a PowerPoint created for the teaching of the new set text advert ‘NHS 111’ for the Eduqas GCSE Media Studies Course. It gives an overview of public service adverts and then focuses on a textual analysis of the print advert itself. Once a fact sheet is created by Eduqas, I will add in any pertinent information. There is an accompanying booklet for the pupils to use alongside the PPT.

These resources should help with the teaching of the Desert Island Discs set text for Media studies GCSE under the Eduqas specification. There is an accompanying booklet for the students. As yet, no fact sheet on the programme has been published by the exam board so I will amend the resources if needs be once it is published.

This is a Teaching Powerpoint on Wordsworth’s poem. It explores the language devices used and their effect as well as considering the rhyme scheme. I have also included an essay plan to guide students in their analysis.

This Powerpoint teaches students the three main types of music video. They are shown an example of each type and asked to take notes during each section on certain aspects of the videos. These notes should prompt class or paired discussion on the videos.

This Powerpoint recaps on how to analyse adverts, both print and moving i,age. It prompts the students to recall the visual, audio, technical and written codes used in advertisements. There are short tasks asked of the students such as recalling media terminology, explaining different narrative theories. The session ends with an exam style question of the Samsung AI advert 2025. There are 2 embedded short videos on Camera movement and camera transitions.

This is a Powerpoint with a number of examples of how different ethnicities can be represented in the media, particularly advertising. Each advert has a question or point to consider which will hopefully lead to discussion.

Powerpoint which explores the topic of autonomy of choice regarding clothing. This is in preparation for a GCSE talking and listening discussion. There is one embedded video, with a 6 minute clip from ‘Loose Women’ where there is a discussion on whether all clothes are suitable for all occasions.

A Powerpoint for GCSE media students who are creating a magazine for practical coursework. This gives information on the layout of double page articles and provides examples for students to study.

This is a two sided worksheet focusing on SIMILES, METAPHORS and PERSONIFICATION. It encourages students to describe themselves using similes and metaphors. They then have to identify what is being personified and why. There are 4 activities on the sheet.

This is a short extract of a creative story. Pupils should read through for meaning, then in pairs identify what is particularly good about the highlighted parts. This will be a visual reminder of what helps to make a good story.
