AQA Psychology, GCSE (new spec) - Lesson goes through types of observations, overt and covert, participant and non-participant, as well as categories of behaviour and establishing inter-observer reliability. Application to video clip - secret life of 5 year olds. Option for students to research famous observational studies if you have access to computers, or could be set as homework. My GCSE students enjoyed this lesson. This lesson can also be used to revise A-Level (just need to add event and time sampling). Approx 60-100 min.

Lesson starts by looking at standard police interview then moves on to the 4 techniques used in the CI interview. Includes evaluation. The four techniques could be delivered by teacher or printed off and ask students to move around the room and make notes.

Created as a revision lesson for Y12 and Y13 psychology students studying the AQA psychology specification. It goes through the importance of statistical testing, type 1 and type 2 errors, levels of measurement, before going through the sign test and chi -square. The sign test is delivered using a chocolate experiment but this can be tweaked and your own results entered. Use the powerpoint along with a booklet to allow students to make notes and answer exam style questions. It comes with a lesson plan as it was for an observation. Lesson 1: Non experimental research methods: introduces students to concepts of validity and reliability. Mini whiteboard quiz. New tracker for this unit provided.

2 lessons worth of material. Goes though types of correlations, when to use correlational analysis, correlation is not causation. Students can conduct a practical to see if personality score correlates with saliva production. You will need to have lemons for this activity. I was observed with this lesson and received really positive feedback.

A powerpoint and small work booklet that covers the idiographic and nomothetic debate in psychology. Students can work through booklet - powerpoint accompanies this and provides teacher answers and further evaluation. Also includes 6 mark question with model answer.

I split the spec into the different units and made a checklist for students use. They can either tick as they move through the course or use it at the end of AS to help inform their revision or if they have missed lessons. Also useful to help inform teacher planning.
