Beach scene to prompt writing of simple sentences. A4 sheet for children to use to look and describe things they see. Perfect to use as a Communication & language resource to prompt interesting sentence ideas and adjectives. Additional sheet for writing could be done independently as an enhanced CP activity or a teacher led/supported writing task.

A lovely UW/Science activity to learn the simple parts of a flower by collaging and labeling it’s parts. Also great to practice those cutting skills. My class loved this as part of our growing topic in the Spring. Pack consists of two sets of petals & leaves for flowers and another page of stems & roots. A poster to show what the activity is and a page of words (repeated several times so this page would only need 2/3 pages printed per class) for the children to cut and label the collage they make.

A sorting rhyming word activity for an enhancement / Adult led activity after reading Julia Donaldson’s Rhyming rabbit book. Sort the bunny footprint words into rhyming strings and then write the rhyming strings on the bunny sheet.

Practise sh/th/ch/ng diagraphs linked to the story Jack & the Beanstalk. Look at the pictures of what are stuck to the Giant’s boots and write words or sentences on the scroll or leaves. Picture prompts are moth, chips (UK), path, ship, ring, king, bath, lunch, chick, sing, fish, shell

Who will get to the moon first using this star number track? You will need counters, dice or a spinner to see how many spaces to move.

As part of our artist study on Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night painting this week I have created a subitising game as part of our Continuous provision for maths. There are 4 base boards with numbered stars, one in the correct order the rest in random order. There are then 4 sets of circle cards using star circles inspired by Vincent’s stars in his painting. There are 4 different subitising arrangements to add challenge. Alternatively you could use the circle star cards as the base boards and cut the star number cards to match. You could even cut all the cards and use as a snap matching game. PS apologies for the poor quality photo of the star cards they are clear and sharp in the PDF. The yellow circles with blue dots are stars in the style of van Gogh’s swirly stars.

Can you help Santa and the elves to pack the sleigh? There are two sets of ten sleighs showing numbers 1-10 and another set showing numbers on a ten frame to support children who need support to recognise numerals. You can use cubes and loose parts as the presents to match amounts to the sleigh. You can print the sleighs on A4 or two to a page as A5 size for your tuff tray.

Two scavenger hunts to complete outdoors in the Spring & Autumn. We used the Autumn one with our Bears & hibernation theme but I have made a Spring hunt in case the bears are waking up after their long winter nap.

Two ladybird mats to laminate for children to draw the equal amount of dots to create doubles. Bright and cheerful design used with ladybird doubles from Yellow Door which I hid amongst some leaves for children to find so they could match first should they wish. I printed them both as A3 and A4. The A3 allowed the children to use concrete materials to make the double dots with loose parts and the A4 were used to draw dots into the laminated sheet with a dry wipe pen. Can the children write what they can see reflected in the sunglasses? Pictures include jelly fish, shells, flip flops, sand castle, bucket & crab. My children loved this and some of the children who find writing a bit of a chore had a go when it was left as an independent enhanced provision task. Snake mats with different designs to promote fine motor skills. Can be used with tweezers/ chopsticks and loose parts to follow the shape of the snake.

A versatile maths activity to consolidate and teach number order 1-5 and counting sets. There are 2 themed activities; build rockets with cubes or count aliens onto planets. There are 5 boards for each theme with a numeral missing from the sequence for the children to match a numeral card to (also in the pack), practising number order and recognition. I use alien counters which I bought from Amazon but there are alien character cards in the pack or you could use loose parts or create your own alien peg dolls to count with. I am using these to help teach the maths learning for Week 12 of the Maths Mastery scheme.

4 cute blending mats with a bear Hunt theme. Can you help bear cross the different areas and reach the word you’ve blended? These were a big hit at the start of the year when learning the first set of letters & sounds. Now used as an intervention activity.

A prompt to support loose parts play or pencil control. This heart mat allows children to follow the dashes to make lines and heart shapes for Valentine’s Day. You can leave it A4 or enlarge to A3. The children will be able to develop those pincer grips by adding loose parts such as gems, pompoms or buttons or use as a wipe off board or worksheet for pen work. The children can also trace round the colourful hearts to practice drawing hearts.

A number activity inspired by the fabulous story Aliens Love Underpants! Choose an alien number card and a pair of spotty pants then count out buttons or pompoms to match the amount. There is a set of pants with 10 spot spaces to look at number bonds or you can use the plain pants to just count out sets of loose part spots to match their chosen alien’s number. This number activity supports number recognition 1-10 and counting sets accurately. It also supports fine motor skills. There is also a mark making sheet with line designs for the children to create patterns for their designer pants!

This CP task is a consolidation activity for phonics work on the letters j v w x y z zz There are 24 hearts with pictures linked to the sounds above to prompt the children to write the words on the blank hearts. 4 activity boards to laminate & use with loose parts to explore the swirls and marks inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s famous Starry Night picture. I used these as a continuous provision activity to explore key elements of his work in readiness to create our own paintings in his style.

Children having trouble with subitising different arrangements of 4 and 5? My Robins loved sorting these ladybirds onto the 4 or 5 leaf as an independent CP task.

This is part of my enhanced CP around the theme of Jack & the Beanstalk. Practice counting amounts 1-12 using these number cards. Place in muffin trays or pots for children to then add the correct number of ‘magic beans’.
