A differentiated English plan for at least 14 days based on the book ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ by Roald Dahl. The plan is aimed at year 2 but could be adapted for other age groups. The plan includes the teaching of adjectives, synonyms, similes, writing an alternative ending to the story and also writing a new story about another animal.

A bundle of resources to help children get ready for the phonics screening check. The pack includes whole class powerpoints using phase 3, 4 and 5 words. Each powerpoint has a checklist to assess individual children’s knowledge of each stage and identify phonemes that they may need to practice.

Year 2 English planning based on the Great Fire of London. The plan focuses on comparing modern London and London in the 17th century, jobs people did in the 17th century, sequencing and recounting the story of the fire, facts about Samuel Pepys and writing a diary extract as Samuel Pepys. The plan includes using adjectives, synonyms and expanded noun phrases. All powerpoint presentations and worksheets linked to the planning are included.

Scavenger hunts to practice reading and spelling CVC words using Phase 2 and 3 phonics in a fun and engaging way. These activities involve blending and segementing words to read and write them.
