An end of year activity I put together from an amalgam of online resources and my own additions . Great as an end of year History/craft activity/ hands-on history activity where students learn about Roman mosaics, engage in related thinking and discussion and then make their own using paper. Simple material required- white paper plus a variety of other coloured papers. I have used it with great success with Yr 7 but it would also work for younger students and students up to Year 9 .

Quick revision sheets (11 separate revision activities) for Year 7 History. Designed to be used as a settling and quick revision activity at the beginning of lessons, but could also be used as a homework activity and exam revision (or even exam questions). Relates to the Ancient World Overview, Investigating the Ancient Past and Mediterranean World: Egypt topics.

Tutorial and activities covering the role of science in historical and archaeological investigation. Relates to Ancient History topic 1a History, Archaeology & Science syllabus aspect # 5 (The Role of Science in History & Archaeology).

Questions/activities to be used in conjunction with the movie 'Pompeii' (2014)- nice as an end of year activity to complement studies of Ancient Romans. Intended for 7 History (with appropriate parental permission for the movie), but could be adapted for other year groups. This works best as an adjunct to more comprehensive study of ancient Rome preceding this movie.

A fun and creative way for students to use and consolidate their knowledge of the Vikings by creating a 'recipe' to make a Viking. Great as a Friday afternoon activity when students tend to get a bit ratty!

Information and related activities

Aust. Curriculum Yr 8 History Vikings- Geography of the Viking homelands activity requires students to read about the Geography and then use the information to create their own map of the Viking homelands using the outline provided. Modified version also included + PDF copy as images have a habit of moving around on Word.

This worksheet is designed to be used in conjunction with the movie King Arthur starring Clive Owen and Keira Knightly and a range of other King Arthur resources available on TES Australia as mentioned. It has been designed as a brief end of course extra topic for Year 11 History in the event that the course is finished before the end of Year Term 3 Year 11 given that students are not permitted to commence the Year 12 course until Term 4. Note that the movie is suitable only for Year 11 and 12 students and only with appropriate permission according to school policy due to its MA15+ rating.

Learning activities relating to the American Civil Rights Movement as part of Yr 10 History core Rights and Freedoms topic. I recommend doing American Civil Rights before Australian Aboriginal Rights in this unit because they in many ways inspired the Civil Rights Movement in Australia and doing the US first helps to provide a broader context.
