Originally planned for year 9 this lesson considers how Islam is represented in the media and to what extent the media is to blame for the rise of Islamophobia. The issue of fake news is also explored.
Originally planned for year 9 this lesson considers the reasons behind the rise in Islamophobia in the UK. Extremism is investigated as well as the difference between extremist and moderate Muslims.
Originally planned for year 9 this lesson considers examples of terrorist attacks carried out by Muslim extremists e.g. 9/11 and Manchester attacks. The question of to what extent it is fair to link Islam and terrorism is evaluated with reference to extremist and moderate Muslims.
This is a series of 3 x 30 minute tutor sessions plus 1 assembly based around a debate about whether Britain truly is a multicultural country. We also look at ideas around religious pluralisim and use the Bahai faith as a case study as this is part of our core RE content.
