Mimicking a transport map, this summarises the keywords/content for R094. Students could use them whilst practising for their coursework units as well as it reminds them of what to think about for some of the criteria. Created in A3 so can be printed as A4 or used as part of a display! *R094, R097 and legacy units (R081, R082, R085 and R087) also available!

Countdown to Christmas - Made in Python

Devote a lesson to a Christmas countdown (that can also count down to any date! Include worksheet that students work through and a teacher presentation that guides them through building the code. The sheet has a challenge task and the presentation also includes an extra challenge to stretch the most able students. I’ve used the lesson with low and high sets as it’s fairly flexible It helps if they have studied selection and loops but it can be scaffolded Includes Python files

Booklet containing keywords and notes relevant to creating a website using RocketCake software Please note: this booklet is divided by topics which reflect how we split up the teaching of Rocketcake in our lessons Please note: The booklet was made when I was using Version 3.3 (free, not professional) but I also used it to teach RocketCake 4 due to few changes in the software. A useful companion to our collection of RocketCake resources

R094 - Preparing Image Assets for a Graphic Practice (Photoshop version)

After completing visual identity practice I then move onto teaching students how to prepare images that they download off the web so they are suitable for a ‘main graphic’. On the stages we work through setting up folders to keep them organised, download and store the images; change the resolution, take screenshots to evidence the steps taken; save the image for use later. You will need to think of a practice idea as I use this sheet alongside a themed set of lessons preparing students for R094. Note: Repurposing is mentioned though does not have detail about this as I have another dedicated resource for this.

RocketCake 5 Skills Lessons - 1 - Master & Homepage

First in a series of lessons that aim to teach KS3/4 students how to develop a website using RocketCake 5. Completely reworked from my RocketCake 4 KS4 lessons - students now learn by creating a website with you, starting with a master page to promote consistency. A good tool to help students in Creative iMedia R097 if their brief can be solved with a website as no coding is required. Lesson includes teacher PowerPoint with videos guiding the process (and an all-new voice!); client brief (PDF); separate videos (MP4) for students to play on their own; student checklist; assets to help build the page quickly e.g. logo, text; teacher solution to tasks.

A one-page mini project in which students have to make a tourist information guide for where they live. Includes a brief template for students and a slide to show on the whiteboard for a teacher. Suitable for a one-off/cover lesson or a short series of lessons to help students build up their digital literacy skills. The PDF can be ticked and typed into! Updated for 2023 - now editable and the corrupted ZIP file has been fixed so all files open correctly!
