Students will be able to construct a three-dimensional diorama world made from a recycled material with interactive characters with names, personalities and character traits from their imagination by assembling both traditional and nontraditional art materials to bring the background and characters to life. Students will observe the pop art style of Andy Warhol and create their very own pop art version of multiple equal sized sheets of different textures, colors and materials for variety and experimentation with their monoprints. They will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the elements of design for pop art by designing and constructing a collage employing the methods of monoprinting. They will choose a subject and draw the same subject on each texture using a different color mix for each one using a variety of materials to subtract the paint from the plate. Celebrate the birthday of the legendary artist of the 20th century Pablo Picasso on October 25th 1881 by having your students assemble a collage self portrait by arranging and repurposing recycled materials to emulate Picasso’s cubism style. It is helpful for the earth and creative to use recycled materials in art projects by giving them new life. Students will be able to demonstrate and form their own interpretation of a monster in the views from multiple angles cubism style of Pablo Picasso from their imagination by practicing the art of collage- drawing, cutting, arranging and designing each piece of the monster to complete the puppet for this mixed media project. Pablo Picasso’s birthday was on October 25, 1881 and this project will also be done to celebrate and honor the artist with a fun Halloween theme. The students will sharpen their fine motor skills in this activity that involves sketching and precise cutting with the scissors as well as their ability to arrange the pieces in an order that is pleasing to their eye to complete the portrait.
