Our Christmas poster on traditions has been so popular that we decided it needed an update. We have now divided the topic into two posters. The first poster focuses on traditions like the origins of the Christmas tree and Santa Claus. The second poster focuses on the origins of traditional Christmas foods.
We have also produced these posters to our standard specifications. That includes supplying them in seven sizes to match American and International paper sizes.
Also changed is the font size. The font used on these posters should be legible if printed in smaller sizes of A4 or 8.5x11 inches. That means they can be given as handouts to students. You can also supply these as digital files for student devices. Just save the A4 file as a PDF.

Here is the first paragraph of the introduction on why teaching history skills is so important in today’s world:
“Teaching history skills to students is an invaluable part of their education, offering far more than just a knowledge of dates and events. It fosters critical thinking, empathy, and a deeper understanding of our complex world. According to research by Barton and Levstik (2004), learning history equips students with the ability to analyse, interpret, and evaluate various sources of information. These skills are increasingly vital in our information-rich age as they enable students to discern bias, recognize different perspectives, and appreciate the context of events and decisions, both past and present”.

Studying the Origins of World War One is a standard topic in many high school History Curricula. This teaching package includes a highly detailed and carefully designed presentation using maps, statistics, and contemporary cartoons to explain how Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism each contributed to the outbreak of war in 1914.
Accompanying the 22-slide PowerPoint presentation is a 26-page Teaching e-book. This has been designed to serve a dual purpose. A teacher can use it as notes while presenting each slide, or each page can be printed as a handout for students. Each page in the e-book matches one slide. The notes are designed around the types of questions students might ask, e.g., What caused the growth of militarism in Europe? Particular attention is given to explaining the role of nationalism, as this is often the most difficult for students to understand. Also included is a countdown explaining the July Crisis, from the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand to Britain declaring war on Germany.
