UPDATED with coloured diagrams on answer sheets.
Visually appealing worksheets covering the inheritance topic of A-level Biology. Designed with the AQA exam board in mind (incomplete dominance is not relevant to AQA, but has been included to allow teachers of other exam boards to use this resource - codominance and incomplete dominance are not the same thing!).
Includes 7 worksheets covering:
Multiple alleles
Codominant alleles
Incomplete dominance
Dihybrid crosses
Sex linkage
Autosomal linkage
Dominant and recessive epistasis
Due the complexity of this topic, I find these worksheets are useful to introduce each type of inheritance, before moving onto exam-style questions.
Also useful as a revision / homework exercise.
All worksheets are black and white to allow students to add colour to the diagrams, a process which is thought to aid the formation of visual memories.
Full answer sheets are included.
Similar worksheets are available for:
Cell structure
Immune response
Protein Synthesis
Tissue fluid formation
Carbon dioxide transport
Respiration
Photosynthesis
Energy transfers
Nutrient Cycles
Receptors
Nerve Impulses
The Kidney
Succession
Epigenetics
In vivo and in vitro cloning
My students love completing these visually appealing worksheets, which break topics down into manageable chunks. Clean, black-and-white diagrams are ready for students to annotate and colour – an easy way to promote active engagement and aid memory retention through visual learning.
Differentiated versions are included (where relevant):
A blank recall version for confident students to test and stretch their understanding.
A scaffolded gap-fill version to support those who need a little more guidance.
Perfect for independent study, homework, revision lessons, or as part of a retrieval practice. Completed version which can be used either as answer sheets or handouts are also included (useful if setting as cover work).
Photosynthesis pack Includes 4 worksheets covering:
structure/function of chloroplasts
light dependent reaction
light independent reaction (2 different light independent reaction worksheets are included - one with ‘TP’ for AQA/OCR, and the other with ‘GALP’, for those teaching the Edexcel specification).
limiting factors of photosynthesis
**Respiration pack Includes 5 worksheets covering:
**
structure of mitochondria / sites of aerobic respiration
glycolysis
the link reaction & Krebs cycle
oxidative phosphorylation
anaerobic respiration (lactate fermentation and alcoholic fermentation).
For most worksheets, differentiated versions are included:
where appropriate, a version containing just the diagram, for more confident students to annotate themselves.
a scaffolded version, with ‘fill in the gap’ structure.
Completed versions with answers are also included (for oxidative phosphorylation, answers for both permutations of total ATP produced are included, in order to cover all exam boards i.e. 32 / 38 total ATP).
If you find these worksheets useful I would really appreciate a positive review. Equally, any constructive feedback would be gratefully received and changes can be made accordingly - please email teachandlearnstem@gmail.com if you have any problems and I will rectify ASAP.
Now UPDATED with clearer fonts. Download includes a coloured version & a black and white version.
Revision checklist for AQA A-level Biology. Designed for use with the following revision method:
Step 1: make revision resources** for a topic e.g. flashcards, mindmaps.
Step 2: use these revision resources to actively revise the topic.
Step 3: complete topic-specific exam questions.
Step 4: mark questions and annotate revision notes with any missed information.
Step 5: repeat until you are achieving a mark that is comparable to your desired final grade.
Step 6: move onto the next topic!
** If you don’t have time to make your own revision resources, flashcards & revision questions & answers are available to purchase in my Tes shop! The flashcards and revision questions & answers contain very similar information, so there is no need to use both - pick whichever format you prefer.
Now updated with clearer fonts & key terms based on most recent mark schemes.
Includes 2 worksheets covering:
Transcription
Translation
For each worksheet, differentiated versions are included:
A blank recall version (with only the diagram) for confident students to test and stretch their understanding.
A scaffolded gap-fill version to support those who need a little more guidance.
Completed versions with answers are also included.

Printable PDFs for GCSE & A-level.
Cornell revision note template - lined and unlined option.
Weekly revision timetable split into half-hourly sessions (8am - 9pm).
Monthly exam timetable planner.
Exam tracker to keep track of dates, times & locations for exams, with a tick box to mark each exam once completed.
Definitions sheet to encourage students to organise key terms for each subject.
Serial dilution / dilution series calculation worksheet for A-level Biology.
Part of a growing bundle of worksheets aimed at improving maths skill confidence for A-level Biologists.
21 marks of AS/A2 exam style serial dilution / dilution series questions.
Full mark scheme and serial dilution explanation/method with worked example included.
Of particular relevance to AQA required practicals 3 and 6. However, the questions are not exam board specific and would be useful to any practical involving serial dilutions.
Percentage change and Hardy-Weinberg calculation worksheets also available.
40 marks of exam-style questions covering the A-level Biology topic of meiosis.
Written for the AQA specification, but the majority of the questions are relevant to all exam boards. Non-disjunction has intentionally been set as the last question, allowing it to be easily removed for those exam boards which don’t include this sub-topic.
Questions have been designed with the intention of covering as many permutations as possible with regards to meiosis exam questions, but without repetition.
Useful as a homework / self-assessment / revision task before an end-of-topic test.
Includes full mark scheme.
Ideal for first lesson back after lockdown for a bit of revision, or for a ‘fun’ end of term activity. Would work for remote learning.
Includes a powerpoint for the quiz, a student answer sheet and a teacher MS with follow up questions to go with each picture. Virtually all pictures and questions are relevant to AQA, OCR and Edexcel.
Self-assessment maths and statistics skills booklet aimed at helping those students who do not do A-level Maths/Chemistry/Physics and lack confidence with the maths requirement.
Full mark scheme included (full solutions, not just the final answer).
Contains 63 marks worth of questions involving:
percentage change
graph drawing
dilution calculations
ratios
uncertainties
logarithms
bacterial division calculations
standard form
magnification
rate of reaction
unit conversions
significant figures
chi-squared
Student’s t-test
Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient
Index of diversity
Whilst AQA don’t have to be able to perform statistical calculations in the exam, it’s sometimes helpful to have practiced doing so as it aids their understanding of how the outcomes of statistical tests are interpreted. Most questions are therefore relevant for all exam boards with the exception of the index of diversity question, which uses the AQA/Edexcel equation as opposed to the slightly different equation used for OCR.
Detailed worksheet covering (virtually all) possible autosomal linkage exam questions. Could be used as homework or as an assessment (due to the low number of past exam questions on this particular topic).
Includes a chi-squared question and links to/revision of meiosis
Made with AQA in mind, but the specifications for OCR and Edexcel are pretty similar for this topic, so would be beneficial to those specifications as well.
Mark scheme included.
