This is a revision resource that encourages independence and learning of key outcomes. This would take a couple of lessons to complete as there are multiple tasks to improve understanding.

With the time constraints we have left here is CB6 in two lessons. This does not cover the higher content but will ensure the basics are understood. I have included a more detailed plant cell adaptations lesson and a literacy intervention I am trialing with some success.
We all know that a big problem for low confidence lower ability students are their levels of literacy. This is my attempt to close the gap on the literacy deficit of some of our student. This activity comprise of 3 different task based around the key language of CB6. The first activity is dual coding where students draw images of the key words. The next is a match up activity and the final is an MCQ task. Really interested to hear your thoughts.
The lesson begins with some recall question on the previous lesson. The topic is introduced before the students attempt an independent task based on 5 stations where they engage in a Solo taxonomy style task. The lesson concludes with exam questions and mark scheme.
This is a 2 in 1 lesson (due to exam time constraints. The lesson starts by addressing photosynthesis, breaking down the equation. It move on to a hinge point question and then either a lower ability WS or a short grades task. There lesson finishes with a how science works graph exercise an exit ticket.
The lesson starts with recall questions and then moves on to a thinking for learn activity. Students then watch a video and answer some questions based on the video before summerising their understanding. The students then do an exam style question before an exit ticket. I think the resource is good an will promote good learning however it is not as detailed as many of my other lessons so I have listed it for free..... enjoy.
The bundle is made up of 4 lessons and a learning outcome sheet where student log progress they have made.
Lessons include:
CB8a: Exchange and lungs
CB8b: Circulatory system
CB8c: Heart
CB8d: Respiration
The lessons are big and a few of them could run over two.
The lessons starts by reviewing previous learning before looking at aerobic and anaerobic respiration via demonstrations and questions. The lesson then get students to focus on a comparison of aerobic and anaerobic respiration in the style of a GSCE 6 mark question. The lesson concludes with an exit ticket
The lesson starts with a short recall quiz before introducing the idea of the heart via and independent research task. After this it is a good opportunity to do a dissection and get the students to annotate on the heart print out the key component of the heart. The lesson then moves to calculate stroke volume and do some graph interpretation of that.
This is just the Learning outcome sheet to the edexcel module CB8. The learning outcome sheet has space to RAG the learning outcomes, log the exit ticket score from the lessons and has a QR code to scan and complete further revision.
The lesson starts with 8 recall questions before discussing the components of blood. The information is summerised in a carousel style task looking at the function and adaption of each component of blood. The lesson then moves to looking at the different blood vessels and a adaptions of each. This is a lesson very much focused on memory and short activities.
The resource focuses on memory and key facts about maximizing the rate of diffusion. I do a dissection during the lesson however is not necessary, the lesson moves onto looking at surface area to volume ration and concludes with an exit ticket.
The resource is a spreadsheet containing topic CB1- CB9 quick quiz questions. There are 550 questions, use the drop down to select for topics. This is a resource to promote the recall of knowledge for the new tough linear exam. I use this when planning for starters and plenaries. If you think of any other innovative ways to use please let me know.
