In the example text I have used the opening from George Orwell novel 1984. This can be substituted with your own text. This enables the learner to: Pick out evidence and themes from a text Use a stimulus to create their own piece of writing Explore the features of a dystopian text and how the writer incorperate them into their writing.

Create a whole class horror scene (Carousel style)

This is a stand alone drama lesson where students will explore different theater techniques, and pull all that together to create a carousel style performance piece. Whether it is an an introduction to theater techniques or in addition to work on the horror genre, this lesson is a great addition. Suitable for all KS3 groups, I have used this from year 7 to year 9 and students have given really positive feedback. Read the notes in the power point for more detailed introductions on the lesson.

This is a quick starter game to help students to think about using the correct synonyms. This can be printed out and cut into board games for groups to do together or just as a power point. Batman vs Joker: The Joker has switched up the correct words for their synonyms, but they don’t make sense in context! Students must match the correct word to the sentences to make them sound right.
