Highly detailed annotations for Afternoons by Philip Larkin for the Eduqas poetry anthology. This is aimed at students going for grade 9.

This 11 page booklet contains detailed model answers for questions 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the summer 2022 AQA Paper 1 English language exam which featured an extract from The Pearl by John Steinbeck. I go through each question in detail providing a range of possible ways of approaching the question to meet the marking criteria. For question 5 there are 4 different high level responses based on a life-saving rescue to compare.

An A05 revision lesson with accompanying worksheet and answer sheet that gets students to consider how 11 key moments from A Streetcar Named Desire would be viewed differently by Marxist critics, feminist critics and psychoanalytical critics. Students then compare their ideas to the answer sheet at the end of the lesson before moving on to review the key concepts in the 3 types of criticism. It ends with an independent task focusing on hegemonic masculinity in the play.

Here is my first attempt at some model answers for the May 2025 Paper 1 Language exam where the extract came from The Midwich Cuckoos. As extracts go, it was quite tough but the juxtaposition of Oppley and Midwich was something I really focused on. I have attempted two high level responses for questions 2-5 with a slightly different approach for each. I have placed them side by side so students can easily compare them and see which structure they prefer. These are just the model answers for questions 2-5. I have not included the extract or any of the wording of the questions themselves.
