Series of Interdisciplinary lessons in which pupils will explore video games design.
In lesson 1, pupils will consider the skills required to design a video game before planning their own game using the game design concept.
In lesson 2, pupils explore ‘world building’ - creating a map of their game and giving details about the history/lore/ backstory involved.
In lesson 3, pupils write a character description of their main character.
At the end of the series of lessons pupils could create a poster sharing their game concept. We got in touch with a local games designer who came in to see the results. All resources are included.

This is a fantastic resource for upper primary, to support reading comprehension and skills. The Literature circles pack contains a PDF outlining the different roles that pupils can take on within the group, alongside a rota sheet. This can be supported by an adult or a completely pupil-led series of reading sessions.
Pupils choose the role they will take on for the week and discuss this with their groups. The teacher, or pupils themselves, set pages for the week and students work independently to complete their task. At the review session, pupils bring their completed task to discuss with their group. Students can then self or peer assess using red, amber or green to give a clear picture of how well they have participated that week.
