This is from a series of posters I made for revision of the characters in An Inspector Calls. They each display quotes that would be useful to revise for the GCSE exam. This one is of Sheila Birling. I printed some out in A4 for my students but they look pretty good in A3 as eye-catching wall displays. I will be uploading all of the Birlings, Gerald, Eva Smith and the Inspector so please look for those if you wish to have the complete set. I have uploaded it as a JPEG and a PDF so that you can download the format you’d prefer. Now that I’ve updated the original drawing to a digital one, I also include a traits-only version of the poster, and a quotes-only version. Suggested uses: Display the traits only and ask students to find evidence to support them; Display the quotes only and ask students to come up with the character traits that they suggest; Link each of the comments to specific themes; Expand on the traits and quotes by saying why they are significant to the character and to the writer’s message; Print out A5 size, along with the other characters, to create individual revision booklets; Print out A3 size for display boards. This is poster is of Sammy Johnstone - Mickey’s elder brother. These can be printed out in dinky A5 for revision booklets, A4 for ordinary class use or in A3 for wall displays. This is from a series of posters I made for revision of the characters in George Orwell’s Animal Farm. They each display quotes and comments that would be useful to revise for the GCSE English Literature exam. This poster is of Mollie. The people represented by the character of Mollie are also visible in the background, to remind students that Mollie is an allegory for the White Russians, the bourgeois middle class. I have done this for each of the characters in this particular series. A5 prints make for really good individual student booklets, while producing A4 versions is ideal for general class use. If you’re wanting to display them, they look really good in A3. Your purchase includes versions where I have removed the quotes, the traits, or both. This will allow you to print out the ones to suit your chosen task. Students can be asked to fill in the information independently - for instance, finding the quotes to fit the trait, etc. As well as display, the complete poster can be given as a task for students to build on the quotes, linking each one to specific themes in the novel and/or explaining why the trait of the character is significant. Another common use is to inspire students to make their own for other characters. This is from a series of posters I made for revision of the characters in A Christmas Carol. They each display quotes that would be useful to revise for the GCSE exam. This one is of Ebenezer Scrooge. Your download includes five separate files: the complete poster as a jpeg and as a PDF, a picture-only version, and versions showing just the quotes with the picture, or just the traits with the picture. The traits (in red) serve as the point in a PEE/PEAS/PETER type response. The quotes (in black) are evidence. SUGGESTED USES Ask students to expand on each of the comments and link them to given themes; Do the above but as a walk-around activity, with each character poster stuck in the centre of a large blank sheet on separate tables. Students then add to the sheets as they move around the room; Show the traits-only poster and ask students to add evidence for each trait; Show the quotes-only poster and have students identify the trait suggested by each piece of evidence; Using the picture-only version, ask students to fill in independently before going through as a class; Print in A3 for display use; Print in A5, along with other characters, to create individual revision booklets.
