Writing a 'Post Card' in Irish is an integral part of the Junior Certificate (GCSE) exam. This PowerPoint contains absolutely everything a student needs in order to be able to answer that question and obtain full marks. The ppt. is divided into sections with all possible variables that could be asked for catered for. There is a translation exercise at the end to check for learning and also two examples of past exam papers done for the students. Lovely lesson to introduce students to Spain. I usually use this at the start of each term with my students. It's nice to watch them discover all bout the culture and the language by themselves. I encourage them to research all about festivals & food. I generally find it is a lesson that they talk about and use as a frame of reference later on in the year.

This 9 page booklet, suitable for KS3, contains various activities covering the topic of clothes in Spanish. There are word searches, multiple choice tasks, matching exercises, online dictionary work, translations tasks, description tasks and comprehensions. Simple display cards to get your room and your students in the festive romantic spirit. My students love St. Valentines Day and the display is nice when surrounded by students Valentines Day cards in Irish. Alternatively use the activity attached also. I use these as a game first to introduce the vocabulary to my students. They are placed around my room and students are given a list of Valentines vocabulary in English. They then have to find the Irish equivalent. It's nice to watch students discover the vocabulary themselves as opposed to looking at a PowerPoint and writing everything down in a vocabulary book. Once the lesson is finished they can go onto a display board. After a recent Ofsted inspection our department has come up with a 'Check in System' in for pupils to review how they like learning. This form has worked wonders for us and has allowed us to get to know our pupils, especially our PP pupils (Pupil Premium), SEN & MAP (More Able Pupils) much better. It must be shown that all students are making progress (Especially since the introduction of the Progress 8 scores) From using these forms we have come up with strategies to help students who are not attaining or reaching their target grades and we have initiated intervention strategies.
