KS3 Full scheme of work, this took my year 9 classes a half term. I have taught both upper and lower sets so there is a variety of activities.
These lessons look at ten poems and teach many key words in detail.
Lessons include:
- starter activities/do nows
- pre, during and post reading stages
- variety of activities like predicting, word clouds, quote explosions etc.
- A focus on writing- modelled and scaffolded for upper and lower sets
- context
- echo reading
Key words focused on (but are not limited to):
- caesura
- enjambment
- semantic field
- oxymoron
- plosive
- tone
Poems are as follows:
- The Eagle
- I wandered lonely as a cloud
- Identity
- Havisham
- Still I rise
- Hope is the thing with feathers
- I’m nobody! Who are you?
- Mother to son
- The way through the woods
- Exposure
