Job overview

Our school

Open Sky International is a French and English bilingual private school, situated in Boulogne-Billancourt on the outskirts of Paris. The school opened in 2012 for early years and primary pupils, and currently welcomes children and students from the maternelle (or early years) classes up to the cohort of Première (or Year 12 in the British system). Older students take a mix of GCSE, IGCSE, International A level and A level examinations and the school’s first Terminale or Year 13 class will open in September 2025. All learners follow a bilingual timetable, taking approximately half of their classes in French and half in English.

Our vision is to provide a bilingual education of excellence to our pupils, and our academic programme is built on the strongest aspects of a range of international curricula and teaching and learning methodology. We have high expectations from the onset for all pupils and we aim for our curriculum to be rigorous, broad and engaging. Class sizes across the school are small and our pupils are courteous, hard-working and motivated. We are a fully international school, catering for both French and expatriate families, and we are proud of our multicultural school community. Our staff at all levels are enthusiastic and passionate about education and possess a sound understanding of best practice.

Business is taught in Years 10 and 11 to all students in our secondary school, and we offer Pearson Edexcel IGCSE Business in Year 11 and International A Level Business as an option in the sixth-form.

As we are a new school, we do not yet have an ICT course, but would like to develop and introduce a curriculum for interested students in the secondary from the beginning of the next academic year.

The role

We wish to appoint a suitably qualified teacher of Business with the capacity to also offer ICT and potentially computer science. The exact timetable and subject allocation offered will depend on the specialism, skills and experience of the successful candidate and the requirements of the students and curriculum for the 2025-2026 academic year.

There is also an expectation that the successful candidate will contribute to our after-school programme, and there is excellent potential for the development of curriculum enrichment activities.

What kind of teacher are we looking for?

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Business and ICT teacher with a minimum of five years relevant experience who:

·     Is a fluent English speaker, with experience of the requirements of the British curriculum and qualification system.

·     Has experience of teaching Business and ICT to GCSE/IGCSE and ideally A level.

·     Has a good honours degree and qualified teacher status.

·     Is an inspiring professional who enthuses his or her classes.

·     Is enthusiastic and passionate about education, with a sound understanding of best practice.

·     Can demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge and the capacity to teach their subject area with confidence.

·     Enjoys being a member of a team and always aims to work collaboratively.

For teachers who need support with the development of their French language skills, private lessons with a tutor will be provided by the school. As we are a bilingual school, all teachers are required to speak French.

Priority will be given to candidates who already have the right to work within the European Union.

What does OSI offer?

The position comes with a competitive salary and support with housing costs and finding accommodation in the Paris area if required. Lunches at school are provided if desired.

Open Sky International prepares pupils to succeed in a rapidly changing, competitive and multicultural world. We have a real passion for education and our curriculum, teaching and learning methodology are built on the strongest aspects of a range of international curricula. We have high expectations and standards from the beginning for all children and we aim for our curriculum to be rigorous, broad and engaging. We understand that children are powerful learners, and we are confident that every child will make progress with the right strategies and support. This is why we do not practise selection at the admissions stage; instead, we believe that the role of a school is to enable all of its students to realise their potential.

Our curriculum targets both academic excellence and children’s personal development. We believe that academic excellence is compatible with children being fulfilled at school and respect, work, effort and critical thinking are all core elements of our philosophy.

Mastering languages is the key to cultures and to culture. Our educational vision is for all pupils to achieve equal oral and written proficiency in French and English by the time they leave school. In addition, we believe that exposure to international cultures helps children to develop critical thinking and a set of values free of prejudice. We aim to provide children with the tools they will need to make the right choices in an open and globalised world, so that they can succeed in France or elsewhere. Our curriculum framework at all stages has been carefully designed to achieve this vision.
