Do you have a passion for student wellbeing, community building, and leadership? Methodist Ladies’ College (MLC), one of Australia’s leading independent girls’ schools, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Boarding to lead and shape the future of Tiddeman House - our vibrant and supportive residential community for students in Year 7 to 12.
About the Role
Reporting to the Vice Principal, the Head of Boarding will lead a dedicated team of staff and oversee the care, wellbeing, and academic support of approximately 100 boarders from Australia and around the world. This is a unique opportunity to drive innovation in boarding practices, cultivate a strong sense of belonging, and foster an inclusive, home-away-from-home environment. This high-impact leadership role combines strategic oversight, operational excellence, and deep student engagement. The successful candidate will also play a key part in shaping enrolment strategies, strengthening connections with families, and ensuring alignment with MLC’s holistic well-being framework and child safe standards. A private on-site residence with its own entrance within the College grounds is included with this role, allowing for convenience, privacy, and a strong presence within the boarding community.
What You’ll Do
- Lead a high-performing team across care, administration, and wellbeing
- Champion student safety, wellbeing, and learning in a 24/7 residential setting
- Foster a warm, inclusive, and connected boarding community
- Build strong partnerships with families, College staff, and external networks
- Collaborate with Admissions and Marketing to grow and promote boarding
- Oversee compliance, rostering, budgets, and staff development
- Represent Boarding across College committees and initiatives
- Hold a small 0.2 teaching load
About You
You are an experienced educator and people leader who thrives in a fast-paced, student-centred environment.
- Proven leadership in boarding, student wellbeing or residential education
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- A strong understanding of adolescent development and pastoral care
- Ability to engage positively with students, families, and staff
- A commitment to child safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement
- Current VIT registration
- Availability to work weekends and travel as required
