This is a model student CV (applicable for those at GCSE, A Level and University) which is focused more showcasing a student’s academic accomplishments and work history (including courses and any volunteering experience). It could be used by students as a template to create a CV to apply for jobs, sixth form, college or any other further or higher education establishment. It could also be used in PSHE lessons, form time or career sessions by teachers as a handout/activity to show pupils what a model CV looks like and includes. It could also be a resource as part of an activity where students create their own CV.

A really useful peer assessment template for KS3/GCSE pupils entitled ‘2 stars and a Wish’ with it being a framework for pupils to peer assess other students’ work and offer constructive feedback. The 2 ‘Stars’ encourage pupils to think of the positive aspects of other students’ work (with prompts) whilst the ‘wish’ allows them to advise on what could be improved in the student’s work. This resource is particularly useful as it can be used in any subject, extending its relevance and applicability. It can be used as part of a plenary activity in getting the students’ to mark each others work or as part of any peer assessment. It encourages students to become more reflective and analytical of their own and others’ work.

An incredibly useful resource for sixth form students who are thinking about going to university as it explains the university marking system in a nutshell in a colourful and interactive manner. A great handout for sixth form teachers/students to give to their form group as it is something that they can keep to help them with their studies for a long time.

This highly interactive resource includes colour and diagrams, how to structure and compose essays, key words, phrases and terminology, a list of dos and don’ts of academic writing and tips for formatting and achieving good marks. This learning mat is a great resource for sixth form students as the advice contained within it is applicable to any subject that involves essay writing. It’s a great revision tool for students due to its comprehensive and accessible nature.

An incredibly useful guide on how to write a personal statement for any university degree, including a model structure, questions which you need to answer in the personal statement and a word bank of transferable skills and phrases to use in the personal statement. Ideal for sixth form students themselves to use in their application at university either at college or in their own time. It’s also very useful for teachers/tutors at sixth form level to use in their practice to use as a handout to help students write their personal statement.

In this highly interactive group task students are encouraged to move around the classroom to find a fellow student who can tell them the definition of one of the 16 words on their worksheet which all relate to the KS3 Maths syllabus (mode, equation, perimeter etc.). This task encourages mathematical discussion and for pupils to become familiar with terminology used on the course as well as promoting literacy and cross-curricular links. This could be used as a starter activity in the lesson to engage pupils or as part of a stand-alone revision lesson reinforcing pupils’ knowledge of key words used throughout KS3 Maths.

An extremely useful set of KS3 starters on Probability and Handling Data. Topics covered include: basic probability, probability of an event, mean, median, mode and range, averages from a table and Pictograms. These are excellent to begin a lesson with or to check prior knowledge of a topic or as plenaries.

A handy set of starters to do with topics involved in KS3 Geometry: angles, volume of 3-D shapes, constructing angles, transformations, properties of shapes and angle laws. These are excellent to start a lesson off, as ‘settlers’ to get students on task and also to test prior knowledge of a topic.

This is a very useful resource with starters on KS3 fraction topics: finding fraction of an amount, converting between fractions, decimals and percentages, equivalent fractions, mixed numbers, improper fractions and HCF/LCM. These are useful to introduce a topic or to act as ‘settlers’ to get pupils on task when they enter the classroom.

This excellent Powerpoint contains a whole lesson for pupils on finding the area and perimeter of 2-D shapes such as squares, rectangles and triangles. It also contains plenty of questions for pupils to attempt including standard, skill-based questions and extension questions which challenge the students to think laterally. Equally suitable for KS3 and GCSE Maths Foundation Groups.
